The universe would come to a standstill. If you look up a literal, absolute definition of weathering causes, effects, origin. Weathering, according to Websters, is any chemical or mechanical means that effect erosion of soil and rocks near the earths surface. Ask yourself, where do the effects originate? In an absolute definition outside of the Earth. Stop the weathering- stop the universe.

If there was no weathering on earth the earth would just be a huge rock

If one of the parts of the rock cycle stopped, it would affect the other parts because they would not be able to keep going. Imagine if heat and pressure stopped. Then, sediment wouldn't be able to turn into sedimentary rock, and without sedimentary rock, metamorphic rock would not be able to form.

I think there would be less cracked rocks and more bigger rocks and magma wouldn't flow, because it would not be able to reach the rock. I also think that there would be much less Ice wedging.

If weathering and erosion stopped working, all of our rocks would always be in the same place and all rocks would be big.

If there was no weathering on the earth the earth would be all rock.

If I had to choose one of the rock cycle elements to stop working I would pick melting and pressure which would make no metamorphic rock. If their is no metamorphic rock then their wouldn't be a full circle. When sedimentary rock or igneous rock get hit by extreme pressure and heat it would do nothing. sedimentary rock would have to make igneous rock. The only way for that to happen is if it is near a volcanic eruption which never really happens. When sedimentary rock gets hit by the lava it melts into magma and when the magma cools it goes into igneous rock. That is what would happened if one of the parts wouldn't be a thing in the rock cycle.

If there was no weathering on earth the earth would just be a huge rock and everyone would be dead, because it would be too cold.

The part of the rock cycle I am taking out is erosion. Without erosion rocks wouldn't break down and parts of rock wouldn't break off of big rocks.

If there were no more Igneous rocks on the planet the rock cycle would stop. The rock would cycle would stop because magma wouldn't be able to cool and turn into Igneous rock. From there Igneous rock wouldn't be able to turn into sediments and sediments wouldn't be to compact and turn into Sedimentary rock.Heat and Pressure can't turn Igneous and Sedimentary rock into Metamorphic rock.Metamorphic rock wouldn't be able to melt into magma so the rock cycle can start over again.

If part of the rock cycle stopped it the other parts would be effected because it can't keep going if a part isn't working.

If one of the parts of the rock cycle were to stop like for instance weathering and erosion. Without weathering and erosion rocks would would take over the world because without weathering or erosion there would just be huge rocks in the way because weathering is weathering down the rocks and erosion is moving the rock. That is what the rock cycle would be without weathering and erosion.

If the rock cycle stopped working all the rocks in the world would be really big, and the world would be mostly rock

If one part of the rock cycle stopped ,I think it would just skip over it . It'll adapt at some time .

If the magma in the rock cycle stopped cooling, and hardening, then the rock cycle would stop dead in it's tracks because then the world would be a magma pool in a couple hundred years. And then there would be no rock cycle :P

Gabe L said...

If lava didn't cool the world would be filled with lava and there wouldn't be anything

Caelen Merrill said...

If the rock cycle stopped working the whole world would be like just rock everywhere. And rocks would be bigger than usual because the weathering and erosion cant break the rocks down.

I think if one of the rock cycle stop it will change the earth cycle and how it works.

I think it would not make one of the types of rock

If one part of the rock cycle stopped then all the rocks would stop forming and the world would fill with water and then all the people would drown.

if the cycle stoped there would be more magma that doset cool.

If there was one part of the rock cycle missing. it would make it so it does not form correctally. the rocks wold not do anything they would be one big bolder.

TYLER WANSOR said...

if we did not have weathering the earth would be a big rock

If something was took out of the rock cycle, the rock cycle would be dead in it's track forever, because it could barely continue. Then there would be no cycle.

Jordan T. said...

If magma didn't cool we would all die because it wouldn't turn into igneous rock and over flow the city.

Lauren Pride said...

If one part of the rock cycle stopped working like weathering stopped happening than the metamorphic would not be turned into igneous rock and then igious word not be turned into sedimentary then the sedimentary would not be turned into metamorphic so there for the whole thing would collapse.

If a part of the rock cycle stopped working, for example magma stop cooling then it would melt everything.

Abigail N said...

If one piece of the rock cycle stopped it would be chaos. The reason why I think this is because it's a cycle it repeats over and over over millions of years of corse. But the reason why I say this is because if take out a part of the cycle the rest of the cycle will go on. Till it reaches the part of the cycle that has stopped. Once all of the rock has reached the end of the rock cycle or the point of rock cycle which has ended/stopped. If this happened earth would only have one type of rock that rock would be the rock of which is before the point it had stopped.

Lizzy said...

If one part or the rock cycle stopped for example if erosion stopped the earth would just be a big rock because nothing would break down.

Abby D ( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°) said...

If one part of the rock cycle stopped, everything will be WARPED. Lets say the cooling stopped, we'd be boiled like lobster. (Hmm.. Lobster, yummy!) Or if the melting stopped, no volcanos would explode and melt. That means all the rock would eventually weather away!

Nikki Newcomb said...

If one of the parts of the rock cycle stopped working for example if magma didn't cool then we would have magma everywhere because it wouldn't be cooling.

Anthony said...

If one part of the rock cycle stopped working the world would DIE! An example of that could be if the lava didn't cool it would burn the earth.

Jasmine said...

If one part of the rock cycle stopped working, everything would be messed up. Like, if heat and pressure stopped working, there would probably wouldn't be and igneous rock's.

Anonymous said...

If the rock cycle ever stopped working and if lava stopped flowing I think that the world would blow up because of all the heat and pressure. So I don't think we could live without the rock cycle.

Brendan Dunphy said...

If one part of the rock cycle like cooling stopped magma would keep flowing. If this happened the world would be bleak and burnt. Humans would all be dead (All humans will be dead eventually). All animals would die from the scorching heat from the magma/lava. If cooling stopped all the rocks would break down and go through fist steps of the rock cycle but the rock cycle couldn't continue. Magma creates igneous which starts the rock cycle anew. If magma didn't cool the rock cycle would end magma would take over and then the world would end. That is what would happen if cooling didn't exist.

Raven Da Senpai said...

If one piece of the rock cycle stopped working it wouldn't be good maybe if one of them stopped working and than the rest did 2 days later who knows what would happen with the rocks will they get bigger will they melt will they shrink who knows but I do think it wouldn't be a very good thing if one of the rock cycles stopped working.

thomas said...

if a piece of the rock cycle stopped working it might mean the end of the world. example, if the cooling part to create igneous stopped working the hole world would be cover in lava.

shawn said...

if one stopped the planet might become a place were we can't live anymore because if rock can't break down there would not be any space left

I think that all of Earth will be the same rock type making resources scarce.

kolby o said...

if the rock cycle ever stop working the lava would cool and turn into obsidian and the earth would freeze

brian wakem said...

If there was to be no weather and erosion then nothing would move no rock the rock cycle would be backed up the lava would stop flowing. No igneous rock with that then no weather and erosion then theres no sediment no sediment no more rocks.

Katelyn Piche said...

If one piece of the rock cycle stopped, it would be crazy. Let's say that weathering and erosion stopped working. Weathering breaks down rocks, to make smaller pieces. Erosion takes those smaller pieces and moves them. If those went away, there would be nothing to break the rock, which would mean no erosion, which would mean no sedimentary rocks, which would mean that pretty much the whole rock cycle would be damaged.

Tristin R said...

If one part of the rock cycle stopped it would be a big problem because the rock cycle repeats itself and lets say there was no erosion so now no rocks can break down and move so they cant get melted, cooled. The rock cycle cant work without one part of it like Erosion so not having one thing can mess up the WHOLE thing.

Sedimentary rock goes through the typical process with mostly just weathering and erosion. The waves and transportation for the sediments to travel from place to place. The rock cycle is hard to think about if sedimentary rock want there, because this the way that minerals and sediments travel from one part of the rock cycle to another. Without this there would be no rock cycle really because if one thing's gone the whole thing changes

Anonymous said...

If Erosion would stop working everything would become rock cause nothing would break down and crumble into little particals.

If one part of the rock cycle stopped working, the whole rock cycle would be gone and there would be no more rocks because all the parts depend on each other. A lot of people would lose their jobs including geologists, and miners.

Let's say that erosion was removed from the rock cycle and didn't happen anymore.
Rocks would not break down, and would clutter the Earth. Eventually, over a very long time, the Earth would be a solid rock.

McKenzie Bubar said...

If the rock cycle stopped working for example There would be nothing if weathering stopped it would not break down rock then there would be nothing for erosion to move down so the rock cycle would not work.

If the rock cycle stopped working that would mean nothing in nature would ever happen such as rain snow wind because those are all parts the rock cycle.

If one part of the rock cycle stopped working, everything would crumble into ruin because if weathering stops happening, we wouldn't have rain or sun, and that would make everything die. :(

if erosion stopped working the the whole world be flat

If one part of the rock cycle got removed lots of bad things would happen. For example, if erosion and weathering got removed there would be no more sediment being formed and there would be no more soil being formed and no more sedimentary rocks being formed. The other two types of rocks would not get as much production from sedimentary rocks but they would preform ok. However there would be rocks being cluttered everywhere at some places because erosion and weathering doesn't exist.
