Imagine you are a Japanese macaque and it's a cold snowy day. What do you do ?
If your lucky you live near a hot spring where you could find a warm refuge from
the winter storm. The Japanese macaque lives further north than and other ape or monkey.
How can you tell the water in this spring is hot?
Where do you think the water in the hot spring comes from?
Please make your own post and reply to one other about the hot springs.

the steam
there is lava somewhere under the spring
there is snow in the hot spring
You can tell the spring is hot because it's steaming. I think the water for the spring comes from the ground, and Earths core warmed it up.
There is steam coming up from the water.
The river and then comes in contact with hot rocks.
If there are monkeys in the spring you know that the water is hot. also there is steam coming from the water. I think that the water comes from natural springs in the ground.
That there's steam coming up from the water.
The water is hot because its in the earth where it's warmer.
The water gets hot because the ground warms it up and the center of the earth warms the ground.
nice post Maddy C.
MOSTLY THE STEAM AND THE lava because it both steams like if you are boiling water it steams that is what happens with volcanoes.
the steam
little bit off lava in it
it would be awesome
the hot springs are from uner hot rocks witch there is a vacano
there is steam
melted snow
good post Maddy C.
You can tell the water of the spring is hot because there is steam coming off of the water in the spring.
The water for the spring comes from the ground, and Earths core warms it up.
lava worms it up
Because there is steam rising from it.
Hot springs represent the raison d’etre for our national park system. The first park in Canada was a tiny 26 sq. km. (10 sq. mi.) reserve around several hot springs at the base of Sulphur Mountain, named the Banff Hot Springs Reserve. Two years later, the reserve was enlarged to include Devil's Head Lake (today's Lake Minnewanka) and the Banff town site and it became the Rocky Mountains Park of Canada. Our first national park was renamed Banff National Park in 1930. Banff is the third National Park in the world behind Yellowstone in the U.S., and Royal National Park in Australia. It’s interesting to note that the first National Park in the world, Yellowstone, was also set aside for its thermal features.

I think the water is hot because the spring is not
frosen and there is steam coming from the spring.
I think the spring is hetted by the magmu in the earth's core.
the core warms up that how it is hot
I think the water in the spring is hot because of the magma that is under the earth that heats it up.
it is near a volcano. steam comes up from the water.
You can tell it is hot because there is steam coming off of it. I think that it comes from something underground.
you can tell the water is hot because the monkey's are enjoying themselves and also its called a HOT spring. i think the water is hot because it comes from a volcano or some type of warm moutain. or it comes from an underground warm spring.
I can tell the water in this spring is hot by the steam coming from the water.
I think the water comes from melted snow and gets warmed up by lava underneath the ground.
Because there is steam rising from it.

great answer!!!
you know it is hot because there is steem
and lava from the earth's core
good job
I can tell the water is hot because it's steaming.I think the water comes from the ground.
How hot are hot springs?
you can tell that they are hot because there will be steam coming off of the water i think the hot water comes from the volcanos from near by the spring hot tub .
You can see the hot steam in coming from the water.
I think that the water comes from under the ground.
You can tell it's a hot spring because it's steaming, that means it's hot. The hot water I think comes from the earth's core, but the water itself comes from the ground.
Good job carly.
it's lava max
I can tell the water is hot because the monkey's are enjoying themselves and also its called a HOT spring. i think the water is hot because it comes from a volcano or some type of warm mountain. or it comes from an underground warm spring.
The water is steaming that tells the water is hot
the water could be hot from volcanos
basically what i said good job i agree.and its probably hot enough to keep them from freezing.
the steam looks like it is rising from the spring
I think the hot water is coming from some kind of volcano
it's probably on a fault line
I thought the same thing but forgot to post it.
How can you tell the water in this spring is hot? Because you can see some steam coming up from it and that usually means its hot.
Where do you think the water in the hot spring comes from? It probably comes from an underground warm spring.
the steam coming off from the water
i think it comes from the earths core
good job!
yes yes i agree with you but i do wonder why its called a spring.
i would probobly go somewhere warm, like hot springs or someones house.....
how i can tell that the spring is warm is because you can see steem coming up off the water, melting some of the snow. i think it comes from some sort of hot stream that gradually got bigger or something like that....
because its steaming
max didnt include steam so there is also team in the backround
You can see the steam from the water
You can tell its hot because it is steaming. I think the water comes from underground where it is very warm.
I can tell because there is steam I think that they come from somewhere warm.. and nice
I would go to a warm place because of the steaming water.
you can see the steam the water is over lava which gets it hot
You can tell it's a hot spring because the water is steaming.
I think the water comes from a stream or river underground.
What's your second answer??
Nice
I can tell it is hot because there is steam and that mean it is probably something hot.
You can see the hot steam in coming from the water.
I think that the water comes from under the ground and lava makes it hot .
I can tell the water in the spring is hot because the water is boiling. The water in the springs come from under ground and from the sea.
I can tell because behind the monkeys, there is steam coming from the water, and I think the water comes from under ground springs.
You can tell the water is hot because it is steaming. I think the water comes from within the earth.
first of all the hot water comes the middle of the earth.
What about where it comes from?
If I were a monkey, I would go to the hot springs and swim around. It would be warm, so if it's really cold one day, I could be in my own little hot tub. Or, if I were a genius monkey, I would build a tavern in the woods where all monkeys can go and be warm, and be served warm food.
You can tell the water is warm because steam rises up and off of it.
I think the water comes from other streams and rivers. It could come from a waterfall? The snow could melt around it and pour into the spring.
You can see smoke from the water and the monkeys wouldn't be in there.
Somewhere hot.
The hot spring is hot.
1. There is steam coming from the water.
2. I think the heat comes from the magma in the earth.
Water steams when hot and it is steaming. I think the hot water has something to do with lava.
You can tell that that water must be hot because the water is steaming, ans why would the monkeys be in the water if it was cold.
The water probably comes from below the earth and probably "ejects" itself through little geysers.
You might be right...maybe
That is what I said!!!
If I were a monkey, I would want to live near a hot spring because if it was cold I could just swim around to stay warm.
You would be able to tell the water is hot because there would be steam coming of the surface of the water.
Maybe the snow that is around the spring will melt and then fill up the the spring.
Wow I failed at answering 2. The heat from the spring might melt snow around the spring, causing the water to fill up the spring again.
I can tell because behind the monkeys, there is steam coming from the water, and I think the water comes from under ground springs.
I can tell because behind the monkeys, there is steam coming from the water, and I think the water comes from under ground springs.
i can see the steam
I can tell because there is steam coming from behind the monkeys.
I think the water is coming from underground.
You can tell when the water in the hot spring is hot if the water is boiling or steaming. The water comes from the sea or from underground.
The water is hot b/c of the steam.
I think it comes from underground.
You can tell the spring is hot because it's steaming. I think the water for the spring comes from the ground, and Earths core warmed it up.
I can tell because the monkeys like the hot water. and behind there is steam, And i think the water some from a spring that's under the groundd (:
lava worms it up
You can tell the water in this spring is hot because you can see the steam. I think the water in the hot spring comes from the mountains behind the monkeys.
I can tell that the water is warm because there is steam coming from the warmth of the air.The water from under ground in the mountains.
You can tell because there is steam rising from behind the snakes and the steam is coming from the water. I think the water comes from hot magma in the center of the earth and heats the water.

You can see steam coming out of the water and the monkeys look like they are enjoying the water also the camera is fogging up.
If I was a monkey I would stay near a hot spring.
The water is hot because it is steaming.
The snow around the spring could melt and the water could fill up the spring.
You can tell if the water is hot from the steam that raises from the spring.and it comes from under ground springs.
I think the heat is coming from the magma from the center of the earth
the water comes from a under ground spring and then comes down a mountain then fall into a lake or as we call it a hot spring- were it comes from
the water is hot because it is like a hot tub there is a hole some were in the spring were the water will never loose it heat because underground warm witch make the spring warm
i will rape u
You can tell if a hot spring is a hot spring by the steam that is rising and evaporating in the cool air.
The water in a hot spring comes from under ground springs.
i think that water comes from the melting snow and the hot water is because the bottom is closer to the core of the earth. :)
because of the steam
I think that that water is from the melting snow and the hotness is from the active volcanoes.
