Changing the outcome

Genetic engineering is the process of manipulating genes in an organism to change the phenotype. Research and post an organism that has been subject to genetic engineering. Please cite your source.

An organism that is generated through genetic engineering is considered to be a genetically modified organism (GMO). The first GMOs were bacteria generated in 1973 and GM mice in 1974. Insulin-producing bacteria were commercialized in 1982 and genetically modified food has been sold since 1994. GloFish, the first GMO designed as a pet, was first sold in the United States in December 2003.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_engineering

A genetically modified organism can be a cat. Cats have been genetically modified to make them non allergenic in the past.

Corn is an example of a GMO. The genetic change for corn is, according to http://www.nature.com/scitable/topicpage/genetically-modified-organisms-gmos-transgenic-crops-and-732, "Resistance to insect pests, specifically the European corn borer, through expression of the insecticidal protein Cry1Ab from Bacillus thuringiensis."

So basically the major genetic change is that corn is able to resist insect pests.

An Organism that has been subject to genetic engineering is Fruits and Vegetables like Apples and Peas . I know this because Genetic engineering is when you manually add new DNA to an Organism.

"In 1980 the “new” microorganisms created by recombinant DNA research were deemed patentable, and in 1986 the U.S. Department of Agriculture approved the sale of the first living genetically altered organism—a virus, used as a pseudorabies vaccine, from which a single gene had been cut. Since then several hundred patents have been awarded for genetically altered bacteria and plants. Patents on genetically engineered and genetically modified organisms, particularly crops and other foods, however, were a contentious issue, and they remained so into the first part of the 21st century."

Genetic engineering (GE) is the modification of an organism's genetic composition by artificial means, often involving the transfer of specific traits, or genes, from one organism into a plant or animal of an entirely different species.

Things like crops and plants have been modified so they last longer and so they can be transported across country.

I didn't get this from a website because we learned about GMO's in health.

Faster maturation- according to http://www.nature.com/scitable/topicpage/genetically-modified-organisms-gmos-transgenic-crops-and-732 A type 1 growth hormone gene injected into fertilized fish eggs results in 6.2% retention of the vector at one year of age, as well as significantly increased growth rates.

Genetic engineering refers to the direct manipulation of DNA to alter an organism’s characteristics (phenotype) in a particular way.
cattle, pigs, chickens, goats, sheep, dogs, cats, fish, rats, and mice.

Pigs have been genetically modified to be leaner and less fatty. So when people eat pork, it is very lean.

So it probably won’t come as a surprise that the dogs weren’t engineered to be cuter, fluffier or more pocket-sized: they had their DNA tweaked to make them more muscly. The first of many potential edits the team would like to carry out, this was done with the forces in mind. With greater muscle mass, the dogs “are expected to have a stronger running ability, which is good for hunting, police (military) applications,” researcher Liang Lai from the Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health told MIT Technology Review. Later on down the line, the scientists would like to manipulate the dog genome in order to mimic human diseases, which could better our understanding and treatment of certain conditions.

Actually, animals are being modified! They're starting to cross-breed species to try to get back extinct animals, and one of the only ways to do that is using science to modify cells in attempt to create a new species.

We know that GMO's are dangerous and are like injecting stomach acid into you veins this is common sense but since you don't know I renamed it uncommon sense for example chickens dogs and its far from safe the animals grow to quickly and cane die in the prosses

Up to 90% of soybeans in the market have been genetically modified to be naturally resistant to an herbicide called, Round Up. This increased resistance to the herbicide allows farmers to use more Round Up to kill weeds. However, this results not only in a genetically modified food product, but also a food product loaded with more chemicals.
