Are there ways to predict ?

Are there ways to predict tectonic activity ?  If so what ways are there ? How would being able to predict help to save lives?

Yes, but we can't tell when they happen. We can only tell where it will happen.

They can see using maps.

Hopefully, scientists will eventually find a way to predict earthquakes precisely, which will save many lives.

yes.we can tell where it will happen.but we cant tell when they will happen

Yes, we can use lasers, and it would help to save lives because it could help towns evacuate before the earthquake starts.

There are ways to perdict volcanos but not earthquakes. There are also ways in the works to predict plate movement. Like Ben said we can tell were but not when movement will happen.

We can predict volcanoes but not earthquakes. We can only tell where earthquakes have a possibility of happening.

Casey K said...

Yes, they can use maps and try to find where it will happen

Volcanos not the Earthquakes.

They can use maps, and other things to help find tectonic plate activity.

Sooner or later we will, but not now. I am, yours truly, Morgan Freeman.

Wow. really?

Well we can predict when volcanoes and tsunami. You can tell when a volcano will happen by observing it. You can predict a tsunami by where an earthquake to place. You can't predict an earthquake. If you could predict them all then it would help save lives. People would be able to evacuate the area or take cover. Another reason would be they would know what they are up against. DO NOT COPY THIS OR ELSE.

I don't think we can predict Earthquakes, but we can predict volcanos.

Noah R said...

There is a way, but I think you can only predict the location.

Ella T. said...

We can predict earthquakes thanks to technology these days, lasers, satellites, and maybe those seismograph things...

Jacob G said...

I really don't think that we can track earthquakes.

Noah R said...

Also, try not to live near plates.

No, you can't predict an earthquake

No, you can't predict and earthquake

Now a days we can predict earthquakes by sound waves.

That can save lives, by hopefully the news would show you that the earthquake is in your area, and you could evacuate as quicks as possible..

I think that you can't predict an earthquake. You can predict where it will happen, but not where yet. In the future we might be able to predict where it will happen.

The way that scientists predict plate tectonic movement is through satellites or either if their is still an active fault moving but you can't really predict an earthquake.

Cassie M said...

They use lasers, satellites. That is how they predict earthquakes.

TAYLORg said...

Yes, but we can't tell when they will happen, but we can tell where it will happen.

They have a pretty good idea of where the earthquakes are, but they can't predict them completely. However, I do believe that if they could, it would save MANY lives, like if they were to have known that there was going to be an earthquake in Haiti, then many people could have been less injured, or they may have survived.

we can't tell when earthquakes will occur. Our estimates are too inaccurate.

We can't tell when they will occur they could occur at any point but we can look at the sesimagraphs and figure out how high they are our if there tiny low scale earthquakes.

People can not predict earthquakes. Maybe in the future.

Lasers and satellites help us get prepared by tracking where it will happen and having people evacuate. -Desi

Some people can predict tectonic activity. Some ways are lasers and satelites, ways to help people and save lives are the lasers and satelites. The people that do that stuff tell the people and people like save them self. So then that would save their life.

Abbie N said...

We cannot predict tectonic plate movement right now but we can however predict when they might move. Being able to predict tectonic plate movements would help save lives by being able to predict Earthquakes and other natural disasters caused by the tectonic plates. By being able to predict these disasters we would be able to get the supplies we need to ready our selves for these disasters. We would also be able to evacuate areas in time before the disaster occured in case of something like a major Earthquake.
