Two types of weathering are Mechanical and Chemical weathering. Mechanical weathering is the process of big rocks breaking into smaller rocks, for example, over time a mountain starts to get worn down to nothing. Chemical weathering includes the effect of weathering on molecules and atoms.

mechanical wheres down because it almost common for rain so it wheres the rock down over time

One type of weathering is when the water freeze it and it breaks it over & over again. Mechanical weathering is the process of breaking big rocks into little ones. This process usually happens near the surface of the planet.

Chemical reactions to the rock. Some rocks are more different than others so they don't react the same. So each rock could be different then the one next door.

Mechanical weathering is breaking big rocks into smaller rocks. It usually happens on the surface of the earth. With cold nights and hot days.

Chemical weathering is effect of weathering on molecules & atoms.

Jordan M said...

Mechanical weathering is called salt wedging. And Chemical weathering has reactions to oxidation, hydrolysis, and acidification.

James D said...

mechanical weathering brakes big rocks in to little rocks.

Shane.D said...

Mechanical one example is when it rains, and there is a crack in the road. Over time, chemical weathering can dramatically change the Earth's landscape.

Austin H said...

The mechanical is the reason we have sand. Mountains ware down over time and dissolves the mountain down to sand

this is what happens on a cold night and hot day always cause things to expand and contract. That movement can cause rocks to crack and break apart. Roots and plants also push into the rocks and break them apart.

The Two types of weathering are: Mechanical and chemical.

Mechanical weathering is the process of breaking big rocks into little ones.

Chemical weathering has to do with molecules and atoms.

Mechanical weathering is the process of breaking big rocks into little rocks.
Another weathering is called Chemical weathering. What that does is the reactions causes the stuff to break and make rock softer

KatelinK said...

there are Two types of weathering. the first one is mechanical weathering, Mechanical weathering is the set of various processes of weathering that break apart rocks into particles (sediment). And the second one is chemical weathering ,Chemical weathering (also known as decomposition or decay) is the breakdown of rock by chemical mechanisms, the most important ones being carbonation, hydration, hydrolysis, oxidation, and ion exchange in solution.

There is chemical weathering. Which is a chemical reaction in which heat and moisture have to be present. Then we have mechanical weathering. Which is erosion.

The two types are chemical like if you pour acid on a rock, and mechanical, like if you take out mt. rushmore with a wrecking ball.

Mechanical and Chemical, mechanical is when elements break down the rocks, chemical is when rain mixes with the minerals and transforms and creates chemical reactions.

Journey B. said...

The two types of weathering are chemical and mechanical. Mechanical is usually man-made or caused. Like a pencil, as you sharpen it, it weathers. Rain is a type of chemical weathering. It breaks down rocks over many years, and shrinks them. Like rain, ice is another chemical type of weathering. It gets between the creases in the rocks and expands, eventually causing them to break in half.

Maddy P. said...

Mechanical and Chemical weathering, Ex. Chemical- When a rock expands and breaks. Mechanical- When a mountain gets old, the wind blows and makes the top come off, making the mountain smaller.

what is 2 types of weathering? well i think if u look at a rock and it has changed color that's a chemical reaction on the rock over time, and if you look at a rock that has been there for a while and looks eroded and old it probably has been effected by the weathering that has been passing by it.

morgan sanborn said...

what are the two types of weathering? If a rock has changed the color than what it was before it is a chemical change. the other one is a mechanical change is when a bigger rock goes through different stages to turn into sand in the end. then the sand/dirt would turn into a bigger rock again.
