Why was Alfred Wegener's theory of continental drift reject at first ?

it got rejected at first because he did not bring enough evidence but 30 years after he died someone brought more evidence to support his theory and it was true

he had evidence that the waves and moving continents made the earth spin so they thought it was impossible so they didn't believe him so he really didn't have any proof.
