Art in Science

What do you think scientist did before photography to create a visual record? Look up images created by James John Audubon. What do you think about his images would they be helpful for  science?

I think they drew stuff by looking at what they wanted to draw. I think that scientists paid the artists to draw them.

I think that to be able to draw the picture's they used to have to study the animal or object.

They used to draw pictures of the thing they were studying. And I do think that they were helpful in science (Audubon's drawings anyway).

Yes. These drawings would be very helpful to see as a scientist because they could see what people saw as science back when it was drawn.

They would draw instead of photography, and it would be helpful because they could have a visual of what they they were studying.

Before photography was invented people drew pictures. James John Autobon created paintings of wildlife. I am not sure his paintings would be to helpful to science.

The drew pictures to document the discoveries they made. I think James John Auburn's images could help understand the characteristics of birds and how they help the bird function.
