The 2 major divisions in the peripheral system are somatic, and autonomic. Somatic send signals to skeletal muscles (voluntary). Autonomic signals to smooth muscle, cardiac muscle, glands (involuntary).

The two divisions are somatic nervous system and the autonomic nervous system. The automatic nervous system controls all the functions we don't have to think about, such as heart-rate, brain activity. While the somatic system is the one we control and which passes information from our major senses onto our brain.

Somatic :
Controls voluntary actions , such as those of the skeletal muscles .
Autonomic :
Controls involuntary actions such as digestion and breathing.

somatic and automonic with deals with heart rate and the somatic passes movement messages to the brain

There are 2 main divisions of the Nervous System; the CNS and the PNS. The Central Nervous System (CNS) includes the brain and spinal cord. The Peripheral Nervous System (PNS) includes the nerves. There is another division of the Nervous System called the Autonomic Nervous System, which includes organs that work without you thinking about them.

Autonomic- its helps with digestion and breathing
Somatic- sensory neurons and motor neurons

The two functions are somatic, automatic. The somatic nervous system has peripheral nerve fibers that send sensory information to the central nervous system AND motor nerve fibers that project to skeletal muscle. The autonomic nervous system is divided into three parts: the sympathetic nervous system, the parasympathetic nervous system and the enteric nervous system.
