Three main functions of lymphatic system are:

To collect and return interstitial fluid, including plasma protein to the blood,
and thus help maintain fluid balance.

To defend the body against disease by producing lymphocytes,

To absorb lipids from the intestine and transport them to the blood.

it carries a clear fluid toward the heart it also plays a big part in your immune system it protects drains and transports. the blood does not come in contact with blood ever. The lymphatic and lymphoid systems overlap a lot the tissues are included in many organs.
