Yes we have learned about the changing of surface on the Earth. We have learned about creep on trees, and seen it.We have learned about grooves and channels. Also about the three stages of a river, young mature and old. Those are some of the changes we have learned about on the earth.

Alexis F. said...

We have learned a lot, we have learned about creep and if its steep or not, we have learned about runoff and what causes it, we learned about slop and what it causes.

Jasmine M. said...

An example of a slow change is waves eroding the shells and rocks on the ocean shore. This can take hundreds of years to be partly eroded. An example of fast erosion is an animal making a burro. This can take a few hours to a few days to a few weeks, but not a super long time.

We have learned about creep. Also rockfall and land slide. We have learned about slope and dunes. Some about the three stages of rivers like young, mature, and old. Also gravity wind and glaciers.

Collin.S said...

One would be erosion. Where water would sink into cracks of rock. Then after years and years of water washing into the cracks, the rock breaks apart into gravel. Rivers are another one. Glaciers would move down a hill and through land. It would leave a giant crevice in the land. Soon water would fill it up and that would make a river.

Kyle M1 said...

We have learned that the earth is always eroding. Glaciers are always moving, even if they only move 1-4 inches every year on average. Lately we have learned about dunes and how they erode by wind erosion. There are two types of glaciers, Valley glaciers and continental glaciers. That is some of what we learned last quarter.

Sarah L said...

Well a slump changes earths form and so does a creep by denting trees and changing the ground. Also a River can cause changes by breaking up the land that was there before

We have learned about the surface of the Earth. This is what we learned about. We learned about grooves and channels. We have also learned about creep and it happens by Gravity.Another thing we learned about is the shore line and the three stages of a stream. Young, Mature, and Old. We also learned about how Meanders formed. That is what I learned.

Dominique F. said...

We have learned creep and that is a slow change. We learned about the three stages of rivers, Young Mature and Old and those are slow changes. Oxidation is a slow change. Runoff is another one we learned but that is a abrupt change. Grooves and channels are a slow change in the enviorment too.

We have done many things this year that effect the Earth's surface. We have learned about the three erosional forces, gravity, wind , and glacial erosion. We have done a lot about water erosion as well. We have done things with the effects of slope and how it would effect runoff. Those are some things that we have done this year with the changes in the Earth.

some slow changes are creep, rill and gully, and some times glaciers, and rivers. Some abrupt changes are mudflows, rock slide , rock falls, and some times beaches, an some times glaciers. :)

It is true that we have learned about changing earths surface.A slow change is creep.Creep is on trees. We have also learned about channels and river system. Also the 3 stages of a river young mature old.

kaylee m. said...

Examples of slow changes are, creep. Creep is a slow change because over time because the bottom of a tree can start to swoop down. An example of abrupt is a climate. Climate could be abrupt if the climate goes down really low.

One of the biggest thing that we studied in quarter 1 was the chapter erosion. That has a force that has changed the Earth for million of years and still does today. Sometime we don't even notice erosion. We don't think of even think of erosion that much because it is everywhere. There is so many slow and fast ways that erosion happens. A fast way is a land slid witch builds which collects water for an amount of time then in a couple second the whole hill side is gone. A slower way of erosion is creep. Over time the land on a hill slowly slides down the incline and makes trees tilt. So next time you go outside just think about all the types of erosion round you and try and spot them.

Oja, Noah said...

One slow change would be the waves crashing against rock to erode it into different shapes. An abrupt change would be rock slides, avalanches, etc. Rock slides happen in an instant as the waves take a lot longer.

Nate B. said...

An example of slow changes on earth would be creep. Creep is the tendency of a solid material to slowly move or deform permanently under the influence of stresses.

JordanF said...

There are many slow changes in earth's surface. there is mechanical erosion, caused phisically, and chemical erosion, caused by chemicals. We have learned about glaciers, how they move throughv land and cause changes to the ground, we've learned about wind erosion, how it effects deserts and fields, we've also learned about water erosion. The groundwater, the runoffs, and stuff like that. That is the main idea of what we have learned so far

Kyle M2 said...

We have learned the 3 stages of river. Erosion from gravity, water, wind and glaciers.Mechanical and chemical weathering.Creep slopes and rock slides.

Jewel C said...

a slow change is waves hitting a rock to make it form into a different shape. Also creep is a slow change because it has to slowly go up word it takes years for it to get like that. An abrupt change is a geyser or a mountain with an avalanche because it happens so fast.

We have learned a lot and here are just a few! Creep is a slow change, but slope is a faster change.

Slump and creep slowly change the earth's surface.
all the different types of erosions change the earths surface because the cause it to fade.
Natural daisaters change it by causeing it to fade.

slump and creep are ways to change the surface. Slump is fast and and can change the earths surface by falling rocks and snow. on the other hand creep is slow and it takes a wile for the surface to change. Erosion can change the surface to, their is water erosion wind erosion erosion by gravity glaciers. :)

Maddi H said...

we have learned about rockfalls and rockslides and the 3 erosional forces, which are wind, water, and erosion. We also learned about wells , creeps , slumps, mudflows, and a bunch of other stuff that I can't remember.

tyla g said...

Weathering changes the Earth slowly mechanically, which is phisicly. Or chemically, which has chemicals. Creep is a very slow change. Sometimes the wind, glaciers, and gravity can do some slow changes too. Animals can do some slow changes as well.

Well, obviously erosion, is one of them where water sinks into the crack of soil and rock. Another one is creep, where things move slowly and then slump where things move fastly....(:

Mechanical and Chemical would affect the Earth's surface , because Mechanical affects the plants with plant acid. Chemical affects more of our enviorment and the air. Those are two examples that would affect our Earth's surface.

Grace B (; said...

I learned soooo much this quarter! At the beginning of this year I didn't even know there was more than one kind of erosion! I also learned about the different kinds of rivers and what makes them. There are so many things I learned about involving gravity too..... Like Slump and creep!

The changes of the Earth.

Some abrupt changes in the earth that are happening and could could happen are things like an earthquake, which in turn could cause tsunamis, others are droughts, or floods.
Some examples of slow changes are things like a glacier moving across a continent, or acid rain slowly eroding a town.

Sara H said...

Abrupt changes on the earth's surface could be mechanical and chemical weathering. Those two weather out objects more quickly than others. Like it can erode faster than wind, and glaciers. But gravity can be abrupt too. The slower changes on the earth can be water and glaciers because water erodes over a period of many years and glaciers move very slowly so they could take a long time to erode too.

Sarah M said...

A example of slow abrupt changes is erosion by glacier because a glacier slowly moves across the earths surface creating valleys. Also Water erosion takes along time because it takes long for water to war down rock ect..

Kasey G. said...

There are several examples of abrupt and slow changes in the Earth's surface. Examples of slow changes are creep, glaciers, and water erosion. Several abrupt changes are landslides, mudslides, sand storms, and earthquakes.

Liz N. :) said...

We learned about whethering, and the changing of the surface of the earth, some changes that happen to the earth slowly are Mechanical whethering, like when an animal digs a borrow, and it affects the earth (obviosley). There is also chemical whethering that is like acid rain which affects the environment. We also learned about water erosion, like runoff and groundwater, that effect the earth's surface, by flooding it, or some other thing like that.

Erik C said...

Examples of fast changes of the earth include landslides, volcanic eruptions, and earthquakes. Chemical weathering by acid is very slow and so is erosion by water and erosion by air. Erosion by abrasion is very slow too.

Nick M. said...

Some slow changes are the constantly moving tectonic plates. They are always moving, but at a extremely slow pace, so I would think that that is a pretty slow change in the Earth's surface. Another slow change would be water eroding. Like the Grand Canyon, fast flowing rivers and streams slowly erode whatever they're traveling over, like the Grand Canyon. Also eroding rocky shores into sandy beaches is a slow change. Things like this take years to do, even centuries to complete. A fast change might be rain, it doesn't erode very fast, but it erodes faster then other forces of eroding.

Archer t said...

Some abrupt changes in the surface of earth is earthquakes, floods, volcanic explosions and others of that ilk. Slower processes are moving plates, creation of mountains the expanding of lakes and others.

We have learned a lot about changing the earth's surface so far this year. Such as Mechanical and chemical weathering, like carbonic acid and oxidation. We have also learned about erosion from gravity, water and wind erosion. Also we learned about glaciers. Another thing that we learned about that I thought was interesting is runoff. I also enjoyed learning about slump, creep Ect. So far this year I have enjoyed science and look forward the learning more this year!

Mechanical and Chemical weathering change the earth surface everyday. The three major forces of erosion are water wind glaciers. I have loved the science class this year.

Lucas T said...

Mechanical and Chemical will change Earth's surface. Mechanical Can do some damage by ice wedging big rocks and its all crashing down crushing people and other things making big holes in the ground. Also big roots in the ground can get pulled up from the ground because if a big tree gets cut down the roots will come up from the ground and make a big hole. 1 thing about Chem. weathering is that too much oxidation to metal it will get them too rusty.

Ronahn said...

There are abrupt and gradual changes that occur upon the Earth's surface. Water can take thousands of years to wear through rock and form canyons and caves. Geysers abruptly spew water into the sky. Volcanic eruptions and meteors hitting the Earth are examples of abrupt changes. An earthquake can quickly cause devastation in countries like Hati. A rock-slide can bury villages in minutes. Glaciers move very slowly. Some duller acids wear through materials slowly.

Isaiahp said...

Mechanical and chemical weathering. For mechanical would be ice wedging animals, and plant roots. For chemical would be plant acid carbonic acid and water. Another way would be erosional forces like gravity, glaciers, wind, and water. For gravity would be landslides, slopes, and creeps.

mattc said...

There are mechanical and chemical changes that happen to the earth everyday. Some slow changes are creep and beech erosion and ice wedging. Some abrupt changes are rock slides mud slides and flash floods that could move dirt and rock. The two most powerful forces of erosion are water and gravity. Then those two erosional forces cause tons of damage and cause millions of dollars in damage. Erosion is not all bad because it makes some of the coolest shaped rocks like the ones in Canada.

Aaron R said...

there are many aspects of the earth that we have studied in this past quarter. there are fast erosional forces and slow erosional forces. some of the slow erosional forces are glaciers, slump, creep, and slow moving water also known as a mature river. Some of the faster forces of erosion are a fast moving river or a young river, gysers, wind and grvity.

Cameron T. said...

In the first quarter I learned a lot. One slow change is when a tree`s roots grow under a sidewalk it pushes up slowely. Because trees don`t grow fast it is a slow change. One fast change is when it rains on a hill the water washes down. Depending on the angle of the hill, it will effect how fast the water flows. Lets say that the hill is steep. That means that the water flows fast. As it flows down the hill the water picks up sediment. As it does this the path it flows in expands. Which means it is an example of fast erosion.

The first paragraph I typed had two examples. My second paragraph will have 2 or more examples. My second example of a slow erosion is Glaciers. There is 2 types of glaciers. There is valleu and contonental glaciers. Valley glaciers are found in mountain ranges. Contonental Glaciers are found on glaciers. Both types of glaciers move very slow. my second example of a fast erosional force is beaches. The ocean takes sand from the beaches all over the world. Because of this it is called a fast erosion. As the waves come in each wave carries away more sand. That happens all over the earth, all year long. Those are all my examples of fast and slow erosions.

Some examples of slow and abrupt changes to the earth's surface include, weathered rocks, landslides, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions. Weathered rocks would fall under the category of slow changes. And finally landslides, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, etc. are abrupt changes.

It's true that we learned about the changing surface of the Earth. First we learned about the more long term weathering like gravity, glaciers, and wind. Then e got into some more sudden stuff like sand, water and that good stuff. Stuff they cause include rock slides, mudslides, and avalanches. Lastly we learned about runoff, gully erosion, and all that good stuff.

The slow changes of the Earth are spread in wide ranges. A few are caused by animals, plants, carbonic acid, plant roots, and water. These fall under the category of mechanical weathering, and chemical weathering. The quickest change comes in the form of natural disasters, such as forest fires, land slides, rock falls, flash floods, tsunami's, volcanic irruptions, wind, and glaciers.
