Genetic Engineering

This week we will be working on the standard about genetic engineering. MS-LS4-5
Have you ever heard of genetic engineering before? How about genetically modified organisms?
Do you know of any organisms in which humans have influenced the genetic outcomes?

Heard of it but I don't know what it is. The organisms that may influence genetic outcome may depend on your gender.

I have heard of GMO's. They are chemicals that are put in food to make them last longer. They go in seeds for things like corn, beens and other things that grow on a farm.

I haven't heard of genetic engineering or genetically modified organisms. I do not know of any organisms that humans have changed the genetic outcome of.

Yes I have heard of GMOs which usually makes a food modified to something like seedless grapes which is modified because usually there are a seeds in a grape.

i have not heard anything about this but humans can have influence on there senetics because they chose there gender and genetics.

i have heard of GMO before it is stuff they put on fruits beff anything on a farm really

Yes, I have heard of genetic engineering. I saw a picture of ear on a mouse.I warn you though it's ugly

I have Heard about Genetic engineering and Genetically modified organisms. I know how organisms in which humans have a influence because my mom had a gene for brown eyes and my dad had one for green but both of my grandpa's have or had blue eyes

I have heard of genetic engineering and GMOs before...
People take genes from the DNA of one species and inject them into an unrelated organism. Most GMOs are in your food.

i have heard of gmos u put them in food to last longer then they were made to last for the rest i haven't heard

I have heard of Genetic Engineering and Genetically Modified Organisms before.GMO's are Chemicals that are put in food to make it last longer especially on Farms.Farmers put GMOs on Fruits and Vegetables because Fruits and Vegetables are only good for a certain amount off time.

I have not heard about genetic engineering or GMO. I do not know how humans have influenced genetic outcomes.

i have no idea about any of it

Danielle said...

I have heard about it but have forgotten.

Anonymous said...

Yes, it is when they make organisms into new organsims by modifiying them for food or domestication.

lily g said...

I have not heard about any of this.

im not sure

sorry i have not herd of this before maybe i should read about it

GMO's are chemicals they put in food to make it bigger and taste better. GMO'S also make it so food last longer.

Lauren Pride said...

yes i have her a lot about GMOs.
and corn is a genetically modified.

Anonymous said...

nope i have not heard of them

Anonymous said...

I've heard about it, and I know that dogs have been genetically modified to look the way they do by breeding two different kinds of dogs together.

Ally said...

i have not heard of them

we need to stop screwing with genetics and wildlife. one of these days its gonna come back and kick us in the As*

GMO's are geneticly altered organisms/plants. This makes the organism better in a way for example used in foods mostly food such as vegetables which are geneticly made to grow larger or the taste is different or they do something to make it for people. In 65 countries this is allowed but the U.S is not one of them.

No, no, and no

Tristin R said...

Nope never heard of them.

Tayte said...

No, i have never heard of any of theses things before.

I have heard of it before but I don't know much about it, so I don't know of the influences by humans.

GMO,S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brian Wakem said...

I have heard of GMOs i have no idea what they are.

Anonymous said...

ACTUALLY. They use those to modify food to make them last longer! They also use it to breed animals, putting the stuff in their food to make them stronger, bigger, etc.

I have heard about it before but Id on't know what it is and I have heard about GMO's in health but I don't remember and I don't know about any organisms influenced the genetic outcomes.

Yes, I have heard of them. I know that corn is usually genetically modified.

i havent heard of it that mutch but i know its used to make food last longer

Anonymous said...

Yes, I have heard of genetic engineering and I don't have an idea on how humans have influenced genetic outcomes.

I haven't heard of any of it so I'm happy I'll learn a little more. :)

I have heard of genetic engineering, and an organism which has been genetically modified by humans would be pretty much any type of farm grown fruit nowadays, particularly seedless watermelon, which did not exist before human intervention.

Madison D said...

I have never heard about it but I dont know how humans have influenced genetic outcomes but I know it can be used to make food last longer

Yes, I have heard of this. I do not have an idea on how humans have influenced genetic outcomes.

I've heard of it but they genetically modify food and animals to last longer or have a better taste or something like that.

no

Bailey said...

I have heard of GMO's I havent heard of any of the other things.

Anonymous said...

I have heard a little bit about it. An orgianism that could be genneticly modified would be a dog because they used to be wolfs but then the got modififed because they lived with humans.

Anonymous said...

I have never heard any of this before.

Anonymous said...

I've heard about GMO's, for example, people inject GMO's into cattle, the GMO's make the cattle bigger and fatter, producing more meat, more meat, more money.

Anonymous said...

I've heard of genetic engineering and GMOs before. For example, in the 1950s, the Gros Michel, the (then) most widely sold banana variety in the world went basically extinct due to the Panama Virus. Since the world still wanted bananas, scientists created a banana that was most resistant to the Panama Virus, and was more ideal, having no seeds. The only problem in this new banana, the cavendish, is that all of the bananas are now genetically the same, so if the virus somehow infects one, the rest have no way of overcoming the virus.

i heard of gmo's but noting else

Genetic Engineering I think would be a lesson on genetic makeup and genders.
