I choose the stomach and a interesting fact is. When you swallow your food, you also swallow small amounts of air. When you drink soda, or other carbonated beverages, you also get lots of air in your stomach. The best, and easiest, way to get rid of all of this air is to burp!

The stomach serves as a first line of defense for your immune system. It contains hydrochloric acid, which helps to kill off bacteria and viruses that may enter with the food you eat.

The liver is one of the most important organs in our body. It’s responsible for breaking down the food we eat so that it’s digested and releases energy for performing daily tasks. A healthy liver is important for overall body health. This bodily organ is so important that if it stops functioning we won’t survive even one day. Here is a list of some interesting facts about this essential organ.

The job of the digestive system is to break down the food we eat into smaller units called nutrients. The nutrients are then absorbed into the bloodstream and fuel the body’s activities.

stomaic Your stomach is actually located in the left upper part of your ‘tummy.' When most of us say we have an upset stomach, or tummy, we actually point to our abdomen, which is the part of your body from your ribs to your hips

The digestive system has two main functions: to convert food into nutrients your body needs, and to rid the body of waste. To do its job, the system requires the cooperation of a number of different organs throughout the body, including the mouth, stomach, intestines, liver and gallbladder.

We eat about 500kg of food per year.
1.7 liters of saliva is produced each day.
The esophagus is approximately 25cm long.
Muscles contract in waves to move the food down the esophagus. This means that food would get to a person's stomach, even if they were standing on their head.
An adult's stomach can hold approximately 1.5 liters of material.
Every day 11.5 liters of digested food, liquids and digestive juices flow through the digestive system, but only 100 mls is lost in feces.
In the mouth, food is either cooled or warmed to a more suitable temperature.

Stomach The stomach secretes acid and enzymes that digest food. Ridges of muscle tissue called rugae line the stomach. The stomach muscles contract periodically, churning food to enhance digestion. The pyloric sphincter is a muscular valve that opens to allow food to pass from the stomach to the small intestine.

In an adult, the small intestine measures about 16 feet (on average), and is about 1-2 inches in diameter.
If the small intestine were just a simple tube, it would have a surface area of only about ½ square meter, or about the size of a chair. However, the small intestine has a very complex inner lining, which is made up of millions of little fingers (called villi), which increase the area to about 200 square meters, or about the size of a tennis court!
Food can be held in the small intestine from anywhere from 1 to 4 hours. During this time, most of the chemical digestion of food takes place (and most of the absorption as well). http://www.softschools.com/facts/human_body/the_intestines_facts/338/
