Lewis and Clark

When Lewis and Clark were exploring the American continent did scientist know about cells?  You must support your claim with evidence.

Scientists knew about Cells 200 years before Lewis and Clark explored the West.My evidence is that Robert Hooke back in the 1600s looked at a Cork and found little square objects on them.He ended up calling them Cells like Monks live in.In the 1800s two men named Schleiden and Schwann looked at Plant and Animal Cells and discovered that all living things are made up of Cells.

  57. A few things were known about cells, and in 1805, scientist Lorenz Oken made up some statements that together are the basic cell theory (but it wasn't official yet). It wasn't until 1838 that the original cell theory was proposed, but things were still partially known on cells.
