It can make mountains lower and higher.

Abrasion is when a rock is broken down by erosion most likely wind erosion. Abrasion scrapes the surface of the earth. Deflation is another way of Wind erosion but deflation is usually with smaller sediment types .

Abrasion is a process that breaks down rock and Deflation is a process that moves rock from one place to another.

Wind blows over an area and causes deflation.
Wind blows sand grains until they hit an obstacle.
Grains collect to form a mound.
Vegetation grows on the dune.

Abrasion can make mountains even smaller than they were before and make the mountains less jagged.

Deflation can lower the lands surface. And abrasion makes pits of rocks and produce smooth polished surfaces. And the are both forms of erosion.

it brakes down rocks by arosion most likley wind erosion

Deflation is when the wind blows away tiny sediments, whereas abrasion is where tiny bits of sediment are blown against rocks that they hit resulting in pitting, scarring, and scratching.
They affect the surface of the Earth by hitting other rocks causing them to get smaller and smaller instill there grains of sand.

Abrasion is breaking down rock material, whereas deflation is the process of moving the rock material. The processes affect the Earth by creating different landforms such as blow-outs, desert pavement, Earth pillars, and wind bridges.

Deflation can lower the lands surface by several meters. Abrasion makes pits in rocks and produce smooth, polished surfaces.
Deflation is a(n) erosion of the land by wind.
Abrasion is a form of erosion that makes pit in the rocks and produce smooth, polished surfaces.(abrasion is common in some deserts and in some cold regions with strong wind).http://www.answers.com/Q/How_are_deflation_and_abrasion_different

abrasion blowing sand and grains and when the wind blows rocks rocks break then when the wind blow again the rocks that were broken down blow away and the bigger particles stay there that is called deflation.

Anthony E said...

Abrasion and deflation both wear rocks away. Abrasion is wearing away a a solid object. Deflation is moving big particles but the small particles stay.

I like Gages song better.

Deflation is when wind picks up and transports small particles and leaving behind large particles. Abrasion is blowing sand grains and striking down rock and wearing it down.

They both have to do with moving soil and deflation is when , wind picks up small particals and abarasion is when, is breaks rocks down with wind.

Ian L said...

Here is a compare and contrast about abrasion and deflation. Both are part of erosion. They are different because abrasion make rocks crash into each other. Deflation moves small particles and the big particles stays.

One moves particles, one brakes it down

Deflation is the movement of bigger particles, and abrasion is the movement of smaller particles. But they both cause erosion, and wear away rocks.

Anonymous said...

Abrasion is the movement of smaller, while deflation is bigger particles moving.

Caelen Merrill said...

Abrasion and deflation are very similar, they both work at the same thing... and that is wearing rocks away. Deflation moves big particle, and abrasion wears away solid objects.

Lily G. said...

Deflation is what moves bigger pieces of rock and Abrasion is what moves smaller pieces of rock. Deflation and Abrasion both cause weathering and Erosion.

Abigail N said...

The difference between abrasion and deflation very different. Abrasion is mostly erosion (wind and alike). Deflation is the break down of rocks.

Jordan T. said...

Deflation moves large particles and abrasion wears them down.

Abrasion wears down materials on the earth like rocks, and deflation moves them around.

Jasmine said...

I think that, when Deflation happen's, it can make thing's bigger, and then when Abrasion happen's, sometime, it can make big thing's small, or just make small things.

Nikki Newcomb said...

They affect the earth because they blow large particles around and it blows sand grains and when it strikes the rock it wears it down.

Anonymous said...

Abrasion causes mechanical weathering on rocks, while deflation causes small particles to smash into rocks to cause erosion.

Katelyn Piche said...

Deflation is when wind picks up small particles and moves them, leaving behind the larger ones. Abrasion is when blowing sand grains strike a rock, wearing it down.

Deflation is like getting rid of the little pieces of grit, while abrasion is like when I fall over my handle-bars on my bike and get road-rash. Or, a better example, is when I had a dollhouse and I used sandpaper to get rid of the splinters in the wood.

The definition of Deflation is when wind picks uo small particles and rocks and moves them.

Colby said...

Abrasion is a form of erosion that hits the rocks breaking them into smaller part and particles than they are ready are. Th difference between is that they both do almost the same things but at different times to increase things in weathering

Noelle Lewis said...

The difference between Deflation and Abrasion is deflation picks up wind and transports small particles and abrasion is blowing sand grains strike rock and were it down.

Bradyn Neundorfer said...

Deflation is when picks up smaller objects that are under sized compared to other one kinda like the Patriots footballs.

And abrasion is when smaller pieces of sand/gravel are blown away by wind and into bigger rocks and erodeand weather the bigger rocks

Tristin R said...

Abrasion causes Erosion and Deflation causes weathering (mechanical) and erosion too. Abrasion affects the surface of the Earth because abrasion strikes sediments and wears them down. Deflation affects the surface of the Earth because, wind picks up and transports small particles leaving behind large particles.

Anthony said...

They bolth use wind to erode.

Raven Da Senpai said...

Deflation transports small particles and it leaves behind large particles from when it picks up wind in order to make small and large particles and Abrasion is just blowing sand grains, strike, rock, and it wears the particles down for the Deflation those 2 mixed causes some damage.

Deflation: wind picks up particles of a material and puts them some where else. Abrasion: wind blowing grains of sand, making them smooth something out.

The difference between deflation and abrasion is that deflation is the transport of little sediment leaving large pieces, and abrasion is the striking of a surface of a rock with wind-blown sediment. They are the same in that they both include wind-blown sediment and erosion.

Deflation and abrasion both transport sediments. But deflation only transports small sediments and abrasion strikes the surface of a rock. They also both are types of erosion.
