Firing Cannons

Imagine you are firing a cannon during the American Civil War. What steps would you take to make sure your cannon ball traveled further and had a greater impact force when it landed?

Aim your cannon higher, use bigger cannons and cannon balls. Use more gunpowder.

You have to calculate the trajectory, use a bigger cannonball and aim towards the target.

You would aim it at a 45 degree angle so it would travel higher and farther therefor it would have more impact when it hit the ground or the people they where aiming for

You would need more gunpowder and aim up more and to add more weight to the ball.

If you put it higher it will crash down at higher speeds and if you put it down to the ground it will not get as far.

Make sure the ball is as far down as it can in the barrel so it is closer to the push.

First of all, I would add extra gunpowder for more force. Next, I would aim the cannon up so it will come down with more force.
