Did it accelerate

Kobe pitches a baseball at 40 km/h east. Emily hits the ball at 40 km/h west. Did the ball accelerate? Explain.

No because it was the exact speed for both hits it stayed at 40km/h

the ball curved and went west, so in order for the ball to stay in the air, it must accelerate. so it accelerated on the turn.

the ball then slowed down once it completed the curve.

The ball was thrown with a curve which is called a curve ball. The answer to this question was the ball did not accelerate because it was thrown and hit at the same exact speed.
