Explain how Newton's First Law of Motion applies to how the planets orbit the sun. Also was Newton thinking of Astronomy when he was developing his laws of motion?
It applies to how the planets orbits the sun because they will always be moving around the sun/rotating/orbiting around the sun unless acted on by an opposing force such as a ginormous meteor that hits the planet and causes it to get out of its orbit. That is how Newton's first law of motion applies to the planets orbiting the sun.
Newton's First Law of Motion applies to the planets because if a planet stays at rest, then the planet doesn't move. In motion, the planets will be able to orbit the sun. Newton was probably thinking about Astronomy because there is no gravity in space.
Newtons first law of motion applies to the planets orbiting around the sun because they will always be moving around the sun, unless some random force like the sun expanding or something like that. Yes, actually he was thinking of the planets when he thought about gravity and motion.
Newton's first law applies to the planets orbiting the sun. They will always be moving around the sun unless an outside force disturbs this motion. And as Leslie has said he was thinking of the PLANETS. Or I think he was....
An object in motion stays in motion unless disturbed by some force.... The planets are orbiting the sun at the moment and unless something decides to come in and interrupt the orbit, the planets will stay orbiting.
Newtons first law has to do with the orbit of the sun because the magnitude, and the gravity keeps the orbit of the sun around the earth, which is keeping us alive. So yes. I think Newton was thinking about outer space when he came up with his first law.
Newton's First Law states than when an object is in motion, it stays in motion, and an object at rest stays at rest unless acted on by an outside force. When the planets are orbiting the sun, they're in motion. So unless acted on by an outside force, the planets will stay in motion, like Newton's First Law says.

The law is a object in motion tends to stay in motion meaning the planets never stop orbiting unless stopped by something which they are not being stop anytime soon.
It applies to Newton's first law b/c the planets and sun move around the earth and his law is about an object thats in motion stays in motion. So the planets and sun are in motion and they will stay in motion.

ReplyDeleteIt applies to planets because they will always move unless something pushes it.

ReplyDeleteAll the planets orbit the sun by a force.

DeleteIt applies because the planets tend to stay in motion because of the suns gravitational force.

ReplyDeleteit applies cause the earth stays in motion intill a equal our stronger force
ReplyDeleteOwen: He was not thinking of astromeny
ReplyDeleteBecause planets will always move.

ReplyDeleteThe Earth's rotation causes gravity because of the magnetic pull.

ReplyDeleteThat is a penis joke
DeleteBecause like Earth and stuff will always be orbiting the sun unless like something disturbs it.

ReplyDeleteWhen the planets orbit the sun it applies to the law of once an object is in motion it stays in motion with a constant speed.
ReplyDeletebecause it goes with the role of "a object in motion stays in motion" so planets in motion say in motion.
ReplyDeleteI don't know.
