The wind might be blowing toward one side of the lake, making the sand on the western side of the lake fall in the water. Then on the eastern side of lake a sand dune forms because the wind blows the sand into a dune.
This happens because of the wind. It happens because the wind will blow lower to the ground on the eastern and the southeastern sides than on the western side.

Becuase of our friend the jet stream, the wind goes from the west and south to the north and east. The wind on the west and south shores prohibits the sand from staying and all the sand just blows off, but on the east shore, sand builds up because of favorable winds and creates the Michigan Dunes.
The wind is coming from the west side therefore it is taking the sand from the west and building it up on the southeastern and eastern side creating the sand dunes on those sides of the lake and making it impossible for a sand dune to form on the west side.
The sand from the beaches can be affected by the extreme winds coming off Lake Michigan. The erosion will just deposit in some areas such as the Michigan Dunes
The sand dunes aren't on the western shores of Lake Michigan but are on the south and southeastern shores because the wind is blowing from the west and blowing at the south and southeast. So since the wind is blowing toward the south, the dunes form in the south, but not the west.
Sand might be blown in from a place to the southeast of the lake (Perhaps a desert or another beach. Like the Sahara or the Atlantic Ocean coast) to the lake shore but, the sand could not be blown across the lake or in from the west coast.
The reason that the sand is only on one side of the lake is because the wind is blowing the other way so the sand is being blown on the south and southeastern side of the lake because wind blows west. But the thing I don't really get is how the sand would make from the other side of the lake and why it would not go into the water?
The reason that the dunes are only on one side is because the sand blew the dunes then the other dune blocked the wind from blowing so it could not move the dunes.
Sand dunes are more common on the eastern side of the lake because most wind currents blow from west to east, causing the sand to be blown with the wind to the eastern side.
I believe that the answer to this question is very simple, but my job is to make even the simplest answers to turn into 1,000 word essays. So here it goes. When I was smaller I watched a thing on The Discovery channel about sand and wind. It was about how wind was carrying the sand in Africa all the way across the ocean and to the America's. Something about they needed to preserve Africa, but that's not important right now. So, my theory in going west across Lake Michigan. So that said the wind is most likely getting picked up by the wind, and if the wind keeps up, it's transferred all the way across the massive lake. At the other side there is a wind barrier, the wind dies down, and all the sand falls into the dunes. That said there are probably other reasons that there is more sand on one side than the other. Maybe there is more farming on the East side. Which intern digs up more sand than the west side. Making the sand dunes because there's nothing packing the soil in. Also gravity might play a part. Say there used to be sand dunes on both sides, but the lake is slightly lopsided. That would mean over a LONG time the sand on the west side of the Lake would just simply fall into the lake. That is what I think contributed to the sand dunes being on the East side of Lake Michigan, but not the west side of Lake Michigan.

The wind could be blowing on one side of the beach that has a lot of sand and it could go towards the other beach and the sand could just fall in the water
There are sand dunes on the eastern and southern shore of lake michigan because of the envoirnment and because of the strong winds that blows from west. this makes it so that the sand stays on the eastern and southern shores of lake Michigan. because there is little to no sand on the western side and beyond or there is lots but it is too flat for the sand to collect and so the wind just keeps bringing the sand and other materials across the lake then the hills on the other side of the lake act as a barrier and the sand collects forming the sand dunes. the dunes could also be made up of two things. they could be actual sand dunes or more likely, they could be hills covered with sand. this is more likely because the sand would have collected over nothing and then there would also probably be sand dunes on the west side as well as the east and south side. If this did actually happen though, it would take many thousands of years. Although the other, more likely theory would also have taken may have taken thousands of years it would not have taken as long. the envionment helps too. It is probably hot and fairly dry but also not quiet as extream as the sahara it must have a deserty climate. This causes the sand dunes. if the sand dunes were formed from the eastern blowing winds

The is blowing on 1 side of the lake and carrying the sand to the other side.
the wind is blowing from the west side pushing the sand to the east.
gavin l.
because the wind is blowing the waves in one direction. the waves are making the dunes.
because the wind is blowing on only 1 side of the lake so they are not on both sides
Because the sand on one side of the lake and not the other.

The Dunes are on one side because the wind blows all the sand over to that sidek
Because the wind is blowing only on one side of the lake.
because the wind is blowing the sand t the other side. :P :)
Because the wind is blowing the sand to the ither side
Because the wind is blowing the sand to one side of the lake.
the wind is blowing the sand to the other side of the lake!!!
This happens because of the wind. It happens because the wind will blow lower to the ground on the eastern and the southeastern sides than on the western side.
Because the wind go in the other direction.
There isn't any sand on the west side of the lake because the sun rises on the east so the wind comes from the west.
because the wind is blowing to one side causing there to be dunes on one side
the wind is blowing the sand to 1 direction making the dunes.
They are not found on the western shore of the lake because the wind is blowing the sand the the other side.
The wind blows the sand and sand comes from the ocean and the ocean comes from 1 direction.
The wind is probably only blowing one way
the wind is blowing from the west to the east so the sand dunes movie from one side to the other.
the wind is blowing from the other side
The wind might be blowing toward one side of the lake, making the sand on the western side of the lake fall in the water. Then on the eastern side of lake a sand dune forms because the wind blows the sand into a dune.
the wind is blowing from the other side so you won't find any sand dunes here
The wind is only blowing on one side of the lake.
The wind is blowing the other way.
Because the wind blows the sand to the other side.
the wind is blowing the sand to the other side
The wind is blowing one way.

the lke make the wind blow that one direction
The wind isn't blowing the right way

The wind is most likely blowing toward the one side of the lake so it only builds up on that side.
The wind is only blowing on one side of the lake and the waves move the sand also
This is partly because of the prevailing winds from the west which also cause thick layers of ice to build on the eastern shore in winter.
The wind is blowing on that side of the lake that's why it has sand on that side of the lake
Because... The wind is going one direction and that's how it makes the sand dunes.
the wind is blowing to the west
The wind is blowing on that side of the lake
Because the wind is blowing only on one side of the lake.
The sand isn't there because of the wind is blowing the other way.
The wind is blowing the other way, so one side has more sand then the other.
The wind must be blowing north-eastern. All of the sand is on the far side of the lake.
There could be more wind on the east side of the lake so dunes form there and on the west side the waves could pull the sand away from the shore more.

I think that the dunes are on one side of the lake and not the other because of the way the wind only blows the to the east because of a jet stream .

The wind only comes only from one side of the lake. This makes all of the dunes on one side. Doesn't everybody love necaps lol
The wind blows from the west, so the sand carries away from the west
YAY IM SMARTICLE!
The wind is blowing the sand to the east.
The wind is picking up some sand and dropping it on that side of the lake.
I meant east. I read the question wrong
Sand might be blown in from a place to the southeast of the lake (Perhaps a desert or another beach. Like the Sahara or the Atlantic Ocean coast) to the lake shore but, the sand could not be blown across the lake or in from the west coast.

The west side has less sand because the wind blows to the east and also because of jet streams.

Because the wind doesn't blow that way

i don't know
because the wind is blowing from east to west
because theres sand on one side nd not the other side
because the dunes on the east side is windy er than the west side
On the western side there is a lot of sand than on the other side. So the sand can fall in the water.
The wind could be blowing on one side of the beach that has a lot of sand and it could go towards the other beach and the sand could just fall in the water
because the wind blue more on one side.........................
wind will blow the sand into the water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
there are no sand dunes on the west side because the wind is coming from the south-southeast.
Because, the wind is blowing.
Because, the wind is blowing.
The wind blows the sand to the other side
The wind blows to the east and the southeast most often and ocasoinaly blows to the west but not often enough to make dunes.
Because, the wind is blowing from the other side.
idk
bacuzz the wind might blow the sand int to the water and the sand stays into the water and there is nly sand on 1 side of the dune
