Precambrian time covers the vast bulk of the Earth's history, starting with the planet's creation about 4.5 billion years ago and ending with the emergence of complex, multicelled life-forms almost four billion years later.
According to http://science.nationalgeographic.com/science/prehistoric-world/precambrian/, the "first multicelled animals appeared in the fossil record around 600 million years ago. There were three categories: sponges, cnidarians (such as jellyfish, sea anemones, and corals), an annelids (or worms).
In the earlier time of that era there was the proterzoic era, than archeon era, and then Hadeon Era. In the Hadeon Era thats when the earth formed. In the Archeon Era it was about 1 billion years after the Hadeon Era and thats when everything started to cool down. In the Proterozoic Era it was about 2 billion years ago there are two supercontinents, one visible across the equator on this side of the earth and another one on the other side.
The Precambrian is the earliest of the geologic ages, which are marked by different layers of sedimentary rock. Laid down over millions of years, these rock layers contain a permanent record of the Earth's past
