Aim for a Bullseye

Will got a new archery set for his birthday. Cole said he needed to aim higher than the target to get a bullseye. Will disagreed and asked Ethan what he thought. Ethan said the longer the arrow  in flight the more it would fall, so Will should aim higher. Do you think Ethan is correct? Explain.

Go ahead and Jump

Spencer is planning on building a bungee jump tower in his backyard.  He wants the ride to last 5 seconds. The town says he cannot build a tower more than 50 meters  tall. Ana says the tower would have to be greater than 50 meters to get a five second ride. Camden disagrees he saying the rate of fall is just 9.8 meters per second due to gravity, therefore the tower would only need to be 49 meters tall. Who is correct Ana or Camden? Would Spencer be allowed to build his 5 second bungee jump tower?

Falling Objects

Nigel says to Jimbo that the heavier an object is the faster it falls. Jimbo tells Nigel that he is wrong. Jimbo says that the longer an object is falling the faster it falls. Tanya says that there are more factors that are involved when objects fall. Who do you think is right and why?

Speed and Momentum

Jake and Lewin were playing pass in the hallway. Lewin said that this was a good example of momentum.  Jake said it was a better example of speed. Nadia said that it was an example of both because speed is related to momentum. Who do you think was right and why? What is speed and what is momentum?

Rolling Car

You roll a model car down the hallway. The car comes to a stop without hitting anything. Ethan says the car stopped because there was no force pushing on it. Shaun says it stopped because of unseen forces. Who do you agree? Explain why you agree.
