Coming Soon ...

We have studied and learned about how genetic information is passed down from parent to offspring. We now understand that when DNA is replicated errors can occur causing mutations. Mutations can be harmful, beneficial, or make no difference for an organism. Can humans affect the mutation or change in genes? If so how is this possible?

  1. A mutation can cause a gene to encode a protein that works incorrectly or that doesn't work at all. Sometimes, the error means ... all DNA changes are harmful. Some mutations have no effect, and others produce new versions of proteins that may give a survival advantage to the organisms that have them.

  3. Dear Blog,

because a change in the DNA sequence affects all copies of the encoded protein, mutations can be particularly damaging to a cell or organism. In contrast, any fundamental genetic difference between organisms is whether their cells carry a single set of chromosomes or two copies of each chromosome.

  6. yes, by environmental factors such as ultraviolet radiation from the sun, or can occur if an error is made as DNA copies itself during cell division.

  7. i dont really know but you probly have to take out genes and put in different ones

  8. It is possible to change the mutations by having them surgically removed or by harming your body in some way like drugs or smoking

  11. When a mutation changes protein that plays a serious part in the body, it can disrupt normal development, and it can cause a medical condition. It is important to know that genes themselves do not cause disease, genetic disorders are caused by mutations that make a gene function improperly.

  12. You take out old genes and replace them with new ones.

  14. Yes, humans can affect the mutation or change in genes if they drink alcohol or do drugs it can affect h=the way a child looks.

  15. Yes, when humans smoke, do drugs, drink alcohol, are exposed to too much radiation, and more, this can affect their genes. Also, GMOs are Genetically modified organisms that humans have mutated for their own benefit. For example, when someone smokes, they change their genes and develop cancer cells in their lungs.

  16. humans can affect a mutation or change in the genes because humans control whether they smoke or not and smoking can change the genes so yes humans can affect a genetic mutation.

  19. A mutations changes protein that is an essential cycle in life, It can rummage normal ongoing development. It can cause medical surroundings in the body, It is important to know if a gene is going to range through out the body. Genetic disorders are caused by mutations that make groups of genes power improperly.

  20. Yes humans can change a mutation or change in genes this is possible because we release a protein that can correct a mutation in the genes.
