  14. Meteors can come in different shapes and sizes like big meteors can do lots of damage and little meteors do little damage. Here is a fact about meteors. Earth experiences meteors everyday. Here is the website I got it from science kids.com

  21. Every day, rocks plummet from space into Earth's atmosphere, so small that they combust and burn away before they can collide with the surface. Occasionally, though, a rock large enough to survive the descent strikes the planet, earning the name “meteorite.” Research suggests a meteorite greater than 1 kilometer (0.62 miles) in diameter could alter Earth's ecosystems through its effects on temperature, photosynthesis and the composition of air and water.

  24. Meteors are bits of rocks and ice ejected from comets as they move in their orbits about the
    sun
A meteor that reaches the ground it is called a meteorite.
Approximately 30 meteor showers occur each year that are visible to observers on Earth. Some
of these showers have been around longer than 100 years. For example, the Perseid meteor
shower, which occurs each year in August, was first observed about 2000 years ago and
    recorded in the Chinese annals.

  31. Every single day a meter impacts earth. When this happens it leaves craters when impact to earth happens. The reason this happens is because meters are like trash in space. This causes the different sizes of rocks. These rocks are leftovers from destroyed planets and such. A force we know as gravity pulls these rocks are pulled into earth and other planets and moons as well.

Meteor Impact. Meteor impacts effect the surface of the earth by creating a large hole in the ground. If a large enough meteor hit earth we would go into a meteoric winter. This would cause all plants and animals that need sunlight to die. This is what meteors do to the surface of the earth.

  38. A relatively small meteorite forms a simple impact crater. Measuring typically less than 3 miles (5 kilometers) in diameter, this type of impact crater is relatively smooth, bowl-shaped, and nearly circular. The rim or upper edge of the crater is well-defined and raised above the surrounding landscape. The interior of the crater is steepest near the rim. The slope gradually decreases toward the center of the crater.

  61. "On October 9, 1992, a fireball was seen streaking across the sky from Kentucky to New York. At least 14 people captured part of the fireball on videotape; here is a spectacular MPEG movie (1 MB MPEG) of the fireball (source). A 12-kilogram stony meteorite (chondrite) from the fireball fell in Peekskill, New York, smashed the trunk of a parked automobile, and came to rest beneath it. These are the first motion picture recordings of a fireball with an associated meteorite fall. Here is a short MPEG movie of a -4 magnitude Delta Capricornid fireball (253 kB MPEG) recorded near Hannover, Germany, on January 5, 1995."
