  2. I had my experience when we were finishing up cheer practice at the Waterboro Elementary School. We finished our half-time routine and our parents were just getting inside the gym. The windows and doors shook like crazy, and everyone except for me was crying. :) Earthquakes are caused by tectonic plates moving past each other.

And the thing that starts a earthquake it the plates in the ground shift and shake the area the plates shift

  7. I experienced an Earthquake a couple of years ago when I was with my dad and dog at my dogs puppy training.Earthquakes are caused by the moving of tectonic plates under the surface of the Earth.

  9. I have never experienced an earthquake before and I think they start when rock underground breaks.

  10. i experienced an earthquake in 4th grade i was at home and i went to sit on my couch and as i landed on the couch the earth shaked. Earthquakes are usually caused when rock underground suddenly breaks along a fault. This sudden release of energy causes the seismic waves that make the ground shake. When two blocks of rock or two plates are rubbing against each other, they stick a little. https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&rlz=1C5CHFA_enUS656US656&ion=1&espv=2&es_th=1&ie=UTF-8#q=what%20causes%20an%20earthquake&es_th=1

  14. I have been in a earthquake. I was the day before halloween and I was watching a movie in my room. When it hit my house I fell off my bed and my TV started to fall so I ran and stopped it from breaking. When the earths plats rub it causes a crack in the ground.

  15. I have experienced an earthquake the earthquake 2 years ago. At the time I just heard about a log truck that had tip over and killed some people so I thought that another one had tipped over again but it didn't and I didn't know what an earthquake felt like so I automatically ran upstairs. The way that Earthquakes happen is when 2 slates under the earth fall off and it makes the earth rumble.

I have experienced an earthquake. I think an earthquake is caused by the Earth's plates rubbing against each other which causes the fault lines to give away and they form cracks in the ground.

  19. Yes I have experienced a earthquake. When the earthquake happen when I was in the shower and thought why was the shower shaking and my mom yelled earthquake and I thought to my self thats why the shower was shaking. The way earthquakes work is by plates in the earth overlapping each other, which causes the earth to shake.

  33. Earth quakes come from the plates shifting. when we had a earth quake i don't renumber where i was but i do renumber that it sound like a train going bye.

    ReplyDelete
  34. its when techtonic plates have to much pressure and start to move to relieve stress

    ReplyDelete
  35. Well I have never experienced an earthquake and what causes an earthquake is when you are on flat land and there is too much pressure on one rock and it starts to break the rocks beneath your feet.

  36. My experience with earthquakes is bad. We had an earthquake in Hollis, ME a couple years ago(where I live) and I was in the shower!! I got out screaming because I thought the furnace blew up! An earthquake occurs when vibration from a breaking rock happens.

  44. My experience with an earthquake is kind of funny. We were watching TV in the living room when the earthquake hit Standish Maine. We all ran outside (Mom, Bryan, and me) all were wondering what was happening. Mama thought it was the dryer. We were amazed when we found out an earthquake had hit. An earthquake is when rocks break or snap releasing a large amount of energy.

  45. if a big rock under the earth brakes it makes a earthqake and yes i have when i was 7 it scared the liveing crap outa me

  46. So, when that large eartherquake a while ago. I was sitting on my couch, watching some anime. Then, there was a sudden ROAR! Like, a large rumbling roar. I thought our heating thingy was exploding! I grabbed my dog, (Who is nearly bigger then me, 'cuse you!) And I ran outside! How the ground was rumbling too, as well! Me and my family started to freak out, then it ended.

    Longest minute of my life.

  49. When the earthquake happened in Hollis, it hit my house hard. I live in Hollis Center, so the earthquake was very close. At the time, I was in my bedroom on my bunkbed ladder, when I felt the house shake and I thought the house was collapsing. The walls looked like they were closing in, and the floor felt like it was moving in all different directions. I screamed to my mom as the earthquake slowed to a stop. An earthquake is the vibration produced from the breaking of rock.

  51. I was seven when I experienced an earthquake. I was playing, and then I felt a sudden vibration, and then my mom came running down the hall, and to her room (because, I was in her room watching tv), and then, she picked me up. Then when it was done we went outside to see what happened, but nothing happened, no damage no nothing. I think what causes an earthquake is, when the vibration produced from the breaking of the rock.

That time where there was a big earth quake, I was in the car coming back from portland, so i didn't know it was happening. but when i got home, things had fallen and my cat was under my bed.

another time, when i was in colorado, there was a very small short earth quake that I did feel. It wasnt that bad and nothing fell, but it felt really weird.

I went downstairs and things fell on the floor. It was in 2012. It was a 4.0 on the scale and it was one of the biggest earthquake in Maine.

  73. I have experienced an earthquake before. I was in 4th grade when it happened. My brother and my mom had just backed into our garage (they had been at football practice). I distinctly remember that I was watching funny cat videos on my mom's laptop when it started. First, my cat (then a kitten) ran upstairs and started meowing, and then I heard a loud rumbling. I got up from the couch and stood up, only to fall down because I was so scared and I had tripped on the ground. I heard a bunch of shattering, and saw that a vase had fallen of a bookshelf. By then, it had stopped. Since I had seen my mother backing into the garage only moments before, I thought that she had backed into our house. I rushed to the door and opened it, only to see my mother and my brother getting things out of the car, and saying the word, "earthquake". Then I finally realised that it was in fact an earthquake. Before that day, I never even knew that earthquakes could happen in Maine.
