  1. Genetic engineering, or genetic modification, uses a variety of tools and techniques from biotechnology and bioengineering to modify an organism’s genetic makeup. Transgenics refers to those specific genetic engineering processes that remove genetic material from one species of plant or animal and add it to a different species. Due to the high similarity in genetic sequences for proteins among species, transgenic organisms are able to effectively assimilate and express these trans-genes.

    1. Scott you have found a good definition, however the question ask what issues or problems may come up because of the use of genetic engineering. Check the link for more information to get some ideas.

    2. ethical issues
Transgenic biotechnology presents an exciting range of possibilities, from feeding the hungry to preventing and treating diseases; however, these promises are not without potential peril.

  4. Some ethical problems are that some people won't want this to be done to the human race. Others think this is one way we can expand on our knowledge. People aren't willing to create new races or tamper with life.

  6. Genetic engineering involves manipulating genes. Genetic engineering is the collection of techniques used to isolate genes, modify genes so they function better, prepare genes to be inserted into a new species, and develop transgenes.

  10. Some of the ethical problems are that some people wont want this to be done to them or any body. Another one would be People aren't willing to create new races or tamper with life.

  11. Some medical problems with cloning is if you use adult cells to clone a baby animal/human they can get joint problems and other stuff that they would normally get when they are an adult. And they would live a shorter life.

  13. Some of the problem is with ethnic because people say it is disobeying gods rule by creating humans, Scientifically the problem is that it spends money and it is a lot of money, The last problem is with medical it can cause mass spread of death.

  14. A medical problem with cloning is aging prematurely like dyeing sooner and get authorities so thats why they won't of it on humans because they think it will turn out bad so they won't take the chances when they colored dolly the sheep she died at a very young age.

  15. A medical thing is that the animal will age old while they're young.

  17. An ethical problem is that some people do not agree with this. A medical problem is that health problems that would normally come later in life comes earlier. Finally, a scientific problem would be is that we don't know if it could be humanly possible.

  18. A problem that is involved with cloning is premature aging. For example, Dolly the sheep died at the age of seven.

  19. How can “good” and “bad” uses of gene therapy be distinguished?
Who decides which traits are normal and which constitute a disability or disorder?
Will the high costs of gene therapy make it available only to the wealthy?
Could the widespread use of gene therapy make society less accepting of people who are different?
Should people be allowed to use gene therapy to enhance basic human traits such as height, intelligence, or athletic ability?

  22. Some ethical issues surrounding genetic engineering would be premature aging, no one wants to die earlier than they should have just to maybe fix some problems.

  25. A few ethical issues with genetic engineering would be premature aging, because most people wouldn't want to die when they are like 20.
