  5. Ingestion (eating): taking in nutrients (important part in food)
    · Digestion: using physical and chemical means to break down
complex organic molecules into smaller usable parts
    · Absorption: pulling in digested molecules into the cells of the
digestive tract, then into the blood
    · Egestion: the removal of waste food materials (e.g. cellulose = fibre)
    from the body

there are four (4) stages of food processing:
    · Ingestion (eating): taking in nutrients (important part in food)
    · Digestion: using physical and chemical means to break down
complex organic molecules into smaller usable parts
    · Absorption: pulling in digested molecules into the cells of the
digestive tract, then into the blood
    · Egestion: the removal of waste food materials (e.g. cellulose = fibre)

  30. Digestion is the breakdown of food into smaller components that can be more easily absorbed and assimilated by the body. In certain organisms, these smaller substances are absorbed through the small intestine into the blood stream. Digestion is a form of catabolism that is often divided into two processes based on how food is broken down: mechanical and chemical digestion. The term mechanical digestion refers to the physical breakdown of large pieces of food into smaller pieces which can subsequently be accessed by digestive enzymes. In chemical digestion, enzymes break down food into the small molecules the body can use. wikipeada

  41. The four stages of human digestion are ingestion,-when you eat and chew the food-digestion,-the breaking down of food by acid-absorption,-food goes into bloodstream- excretion, -when you go to the bathroom this is the process.
