Have you ever experienced an earthquake? What did  you think was happening? How do you think earthquakes occur?

  10. I have experienced an earthquake. It was on October 12th, 2012. I knew it was an earthquake because the whole house was shaking. How I think earthquakes occur is by tectonic plates moving over each other.

  14. I have experienced an earthquake, I thought that something inside of my house exploded at the time and then I learned it was an earthquake. Earthquakes are caused by plates in the earth shifting and moving, then it moves the earth's surface and it starts to shake because of it.

  15. I felt the earthquake, then I feel to the floor and I thought a big truck was coming down the road. When my dad go to the house and we told him about it he said he didn't feel it because he was in his car.

  18. I have on October 16th, 2012 I think, and I thought it was a plane crashed in the yard. I think earthquakes happen when to rock plates under the surface of the earth collide, sending a shaking signal to the area around it, rupturing the area,

  21. Earthquakes are usually caused when rock underground suddenly breaks along a fault. This sudden release of energy causes the seismic waves that make the ground shake. When two blocks of rock or two plates are rubbing against each other, they stick a little.

  24. I have experienced an earthquake before i was at my house walking down the stairs and the whole house started shaking i almost fell down the stairs.Earthquakes occur when plates in the earth shift and move and the plates hit each other and make the area shake.

  26. I have experienced an earthquake and I didn't know what it was at the time until later when I was watching the news and it said it was an earthquake. An earthquake is when two of earths plates hit each other because they shifted.

  27. I felt one on October 16, 2012. I was down in the basement when it happend with my sister. My mom thought we were messing with the furnace. I thought it was a nuclear bomb.

Well i have been in one I was walking downstairs when it happen I fell down the stairs and we all thought the boiler blew up and the other earthquake I have been in I was sitting in a chair playing games on my laptop when it happen my computer fell onto the ground and my patents told me to get down. It happens when tectonic plates clash together and make 3 types of disasters make a volcano, make a valley or just clash together making a earthquake.

  38. Yes, I have experienced an earthquake before! Right in Hollis, I think like two or three years ago? I think what was happening that plates were shifting or rubbing against each other below us or something. I think earthquakes are caused by plates shifting and causing friction.

  43. I have been in a pretty large earthquake and it feels like the whole world is shaking, and it kinda is. Earthquakes happen when plates a little beneath the surface of the earth shift slightly, causing the earth to shake.

  49. I have. I was at my house and i playing with legos and all of a sudden I heard a big thump, thinking it was a thunderstorm so I just kept playing. Then the house started to shake and books fell. My mom came running upstairs and told us to go downstairs. At first she thought that it was the pipes rattling but she checked with the neighbors and they felt it too.

I have experienced an earthquake before, I was in my ballet class and we heard a rumble, there was a class on the floor above us and we thought that someone had fallen over on the floor above us. After the class my parents told me it was an earthquake. I think earthquakes are caused by movement of tectonic plates.

    When I was 10 or 11 i was getting ready for bed and i was downstairs sitting next to my mom on our couch. All of the sudden the ground starts shaking. i know earthquakes are caused by invisible plates. if one plate overlaps another, it causes an earthquake.

  53. I have experienced an earthquake before. Me and my dad thought that the furnace was blowing up. A ton of books fell off the shelves and frames fell off the wall. We were very close to where it happened, so it was pretty bad. I was scared, because i was only like 9. I think earthquakes occur when the plates of the earth rub/scrap together.

  61. Yes, I have experienced an earthquake before, I was in fifth grade and I was at basketball practice. The building started to shake and we thought something fell and then my coach got a call and his wife said that we had just had an earthquake.
    Earthquakes occur by these two plates where one overlaps the other other one.

I was in my karate dojo changing room in a basement and then everything started shaking but i thought it was just the MMA class that was going on upstairs and me and my sister were joking around when we thought it was them saying " OH NO A EARTHQUAKE! " then we went upstairs and everyone was saying things about an earthquake and i said where and they said here.

  67. I have experienced an earthquake about two years ago, I was watching T.V with my family and all of the sudden the whole house starting shaking! My mom thought that the furnace was blowing up and had us go on the porch. After the shaking started, we went back inside and turned in the new. The news said it was an earthquake. Earthquakes are caused by two underground boundary plates are forced together.

    I experienced a earthquake when I lived in Windham,I thought it was the ground shaking and my dad said it was an earthquake. It has to be over lapped by plates.
