Racing Rocks of Death Valley
You may have notice animal tracks in sand but, have you ever seen boulder tracks? If you ever go to the racetrack in Death Valley this is exactly what you will see. Rocks at the race track seem to move without any help.
1. No one has ever seen a rock move at the race track. What evidence is there that these rocks are moving with or without human interference?
2. Develop and post a theory that explains the mysterious movement at the racetrack.

ReplyDeleteI believe that the wind is so strong that is makes the rocks move. I no that there is no human(s) because there are no footprints.
ReplyDelete1. they are moving with human force cause rocks get hit by cars.
ReplyDelete2. um cars hit them and they move.

ReplyDelete1.) There are no human footprints.
ReplyDelete2.) Maybe the wind from the cars move the rock inch by inch to make the rock move.
1.Sailing stones, sliding rocks, and moving rocks all refer to a geological phenomenon where rocks move and inscribe long tracks along a smooth valley floor without human or animal intervention.

2.I think that wind might move it or maybe they could use the magnetic pull and move to the north.
1.The wind force is moving the rocks across the sand.
ReplyDelete2.Studies suggest that the rocks are moving by a combination of 90mph winds, ice formations at night and thin layers of clay on the surface of the desert. That's 1 theory of how the rocks move.
1. There are no human footprints.
ReplyDelete2. The mysterous movement is because the wind might move it into different places and spots.
1 no human force cause no foot prints.
ReplyDelete2 they sink into the ground which makes a slanted slope then gravity pulls it.
1.I think that the erosional force wind helped these rocks by pushing them.
ReplyDelete2. My theory for how the rocks move are the erosional force wind helps the rocks move, or maybe gravity helps by pulling the rocks.
i think it is wind owenbriddges
ReplyDelete1. There are no footprints so there is no human movements
ReplyDelete2. I think that wind moved the rock
Gravity, wind ,and ice.
ReplyDeletemaybe the vibration of the cars move them with help from gravity ice and water
ReplyDeleteI think that the wind picks up and carries the rock a little way each time and over time they move a long way because the keeps carrying the rocks.
ReplyDelete1. There are no foot prints.
ReplyDelete2. I think the mysterious racetrack is erosion.
gravity ice and water
ReplyDeleteMy theory is that wind carries the rock across the sand/other rocks leaving a trail.
ReplyDeleteI think that it is space aliens.
ReplyDeleteMy theory is that wind carries the rock across the sand/other rocks leaving a trail.
ReplyDeleteThe evidence that the rocks move is that they leave behind tracks. My theory of them moving is that death valley is slightly slanted, so gravity pushes the rocks down. If the winds are strong enough, then it could push the rocks.
ReplyDeleteThere aren't any footprints or anything that would weather the ground from humans, and there's weathering from when a rock scraped against the ground. My theory is wind eroded the rocks, leaving a trail.
ReplyDeleteMy theory is that, possibly Earth's plates are shifting, or possibly wind pushing the rocks and rain sliding it along I think these forces help each other. Or possibly, I could be completely wrong, if of it is possible that is.
ReplyDeleteThey move because of wind and gravity moving it but we don't notice gravity or wind.
ReplyDelete1.Some signs that there are no human interference of moving rocks, is that there are no human traits, such as footprints, or humans themselves.
ReplyDelete2. This mysterious movement can be made by wind.
Erosion is proof that these racetrack rocks move. My theory is that erosion takes a long time to move these rocks so we don't notice the rocks moving.
ReplyDelete1. There's a good chance that they were sometimes moved people because there are footprints near the rocks.
ReplyDelete2. I think that the rocks move by wind erosion. Or, on the lesser scale, pink fluffy unicorns have moved them by their magical powers.
My theory is that wind carries the rock across the sand and other rocks leaving a trail.

NOAH L I think the wind moves the rocks.
ReplyDeleteits wind pushing the rocks across the dessert like a sandstorm

I think these rocks are moving across the desert through the erosional process of wind and gravity together.
ReplyDeletegravity ice and water .
ReplyDeleteI think the rocks move by wind.
ReplyDelete1) There's no footprints in the sand, and I think that "sailing stones" come from sideways gravity.
ReplyDelete(VERY scientific, I know.)
no footprints; wind from sandstorms
ReplyDelete1. There would be a trail.
ReplyDelete2. The mysterious movement can be made by wind.
1.Eroision happens in the desert too.Witch results in rocks moving.
ReplyDelete1 cheese burger 2 cheese burger
ReplyDelete1. there might be a trail or they might tag them 2. WIND!!
1. Some of the signs that there are no human interfering with rocks are there are no footprints or any evidence.

1.There are no human interference of moving rocks, there are no human traits, such as footprints, or humans themselves.

I think it moves because of wind blows away the sand under the rock so the rock starys to slide or roll when the sand is moved from underneath.
ReplyDelete1.There are no human interference of moving rocks, there are no human traits, such as footprints, or humans themselves.
ReplyDelete2. This mysterious movement can be made by wind.

1. A sign is wind
ReplyDelete2. Wind
wind moves the rocks
ReplyDeletethe children of the corn come and move them JUST KIDING its veary stong wing and weathering
there would be something human reated like footprints, trash, tire tracks or something of that nature.
ReplyDeletethe only thing i think it could be is wind
