  2. 1. Cells are too small to be seen without magnification.
Cells range in size from 1 to 100 micrometers. The study of cells, also called cell biology, would not have been possible without the invention of the microscope. With the advance microscopes of today such as the Scanning Electron Microscope and Transmission Electron Microscope, cell biologists are able to obtain detailed images of the smallest of cell structures.

    2. There are two primary types of cells.
Eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells are the two main types of cells. Eukaryotic cells are called so because they have a true nucleus. Animals, plants, fungi and protists are examples of organisms that are composed of eukaryotic cells. Prokaryotes include bacteria and archaeans.

    3. Prokaryotic single-celled organisms were the earliest and most primitive forms of life on earth.
Prokaryotes can live in environments that would be deadly to most other organisms. They are able to live and thrive in various extreme habitats. Archaeans for example, live in areas such as hydrothermal vents, hot springs, swamps, wetlands, and even animal intestines.

I learned that cell have a lot of functions to it like nucleus, lysosome, ribosomes, cell wall, cell membrane,cytoplasm...etc.Nucleus controls what happens in the cell, cell wall protects the cell, cell membrane is the protective layer, cytoplasm is substance that constantly flows through the cell.

    ReplyDelete
  32. i know that the nucleus is basically the brain of the whole cell and the little free ribosomes float around in the cell giving off protein to the body and the cell wall is like the shell it keeps everything in the cell together and protects it not all cells have a nucleus there are organelles that are rough(rough endoplasmic reticulum) and smoth ones (smooth endoplasmic reticulum)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Some of the organelles(Structures inside the cell) are Nucleus, mitochondria, cytoplasm, nucleolus, cytoskeleton, cell membrane, cell wall, ribosomes, lysosomes, and chloroplast. The types of cells are eukaryotic and prokaryotic.
There are plant and animal cells.

  40. I now know that the nucleus is the control center of the entire cell. The free ribosomes float around inside of the the cell letting off protein to the body. The cell wall is like the cup of a pudding snack pack, it keeps things in.

  44. cells have organs like a heart and stuff

    ReplyDelete
  45. Cells have many parts like the nucleus and mitochondria. Only plant cells have plant walls. There are many different cells in the human body like skin cells, mussel cells and blood cells.

    ReplyDelete
  46. The nucleus is the boss, and it controls the cell. It holds all of the DNA (hereditary information) and tells the cell what to do. I learned the difference between rough ER and smooth ER. Rough ER has ribosomes in it, and smooth ER does not. The golgi body is like the packing and shipping section. The cytoskeleton is like the base of a cell. It holds the cell up and keeps it's shape. There are cells in all living things like animals, plants, and fungi. Plant cells have chloroplast, which is how they gain energy. Animals use mitochondria to get their energy. The cell wall is the outer part of the cell, and it's only in plant cells. Next is the membrane, and it let's certain things in and out of it. The lysosomes is the suicide sack, and hold digestive enzymes. Inside the nucleus is in the nucleolus.

  51. The cell is the basic structural and functional unit of all known living organisms. It is the smallest unit of life that is classified as a living thing (except virus, which consists only from DNA/RNA covered by protein and lipids), and is often called the building block of life.[1] Organisms can be classified as unicellular (consisting of a single cell; including most bacteria) or multicellular (including plants and animals). Humans contain about 10 trillion (1013) cells. Most plant and animal cells are between 1 and 100 µm and therefore are visible only under the microscope.[2]

The cell was discovered by Robert Hooke in 1665. The cell theory, first developed in 1839 by Matthias Jakob Schleiden and Theodor Schwann, states that all organisms are composed of one or more cells, that all cells come from preexisting cells, that vital functions of an organism occur within cells, and that all cells contain the hereditary information necessary for regulating cell functions and for transmitting information to the next generation of cells.[3]

The word cell comes from the Latin cella, meaning "small room". The descriptive term for the smallest living biological structure was coined by Robert Hooke in a book he published in 1665 when he compared the cork cells he saw through his microscope to the small rooms monks lived in.[4]

  70. I have learned about the nucleus directs the organelles to do what they're supposed to , and that chloroplast is only in plant cells, the cell membrane is the exterior of the cell, and that the ER are like conveyor belts in the cell. Cytoplasm is a gel-like substance and the golgi bodies package and move proteins.

  71. The cell is a very very small part of the human body, which makes up the human body, the nucleus is found right in the middle of the cell. It's the boss of the rest of the cell, it keeps the rest of the cell in check. There are two types of cells Eukaryotic and Prokaryotic cells. Cytoskeleton is the base of the cell its what keeps the cell in its structure, only plant cells have the cytoskeleton. The mitochondria stores food and water, or energy. Each cell has cytoplasm, so that each part in the cell has enough room to move around. The other type of cell is the animal cell. Rough ER has ribsomes in it and smooth ER doesn't. Plant cells have chloroplast animal cells do not. Plant cells have a cell wall and the animal cells do not. Cells are made up of organells.
