Weathering Trees and Praire Dogs

Explain how a tree root can weather rock.

How can a prairie dog weather rock. 

Please restate the question, and answers should have at least three complete sentences.

  5. When a tree root grows, and a rock gets in the way, the root will grow either over or under the rock.

    When prairie dogs burrow, they affect how a rock is in place.

  6. A tree root can weather rock because the roots go so far down in the ground that they can crack rocks and then the rock will eventually weather down from when the water comes through the ground. A prairie dog can weather rock by burrowing in the ground. And that's how roots and prairie dogs can weather rocks.

    A prairie dog when a prairie dog makes a home the rocks can get covers with dirt making it so that it gets less air and makes it crack, That is weathering from a tree and a prairie dog.

  17. prairie dogs go on top of the rock to look for hyenas so the stand in the same spot every day so it makes the rock weather from walking on it like a road cars go over it every day so it gets tired and weathers

  51. If a tree is planted, or is growing by a rock, its roots will spread out all underneath and beside it. The roots might get attached to the rock, or get inside the creases of it. The roots will move the rock or break it apart. This is mechanical weathering, just like prairie dogs. The prairie dogs will burrow under the rocks or in them, causing them to chip and fall apart. The dog doesn't mean to, but this is a type of weathering most burrowing animals cause.

  55. A tree root can grow very deep into the cracks (in roads, sidewalks) were water collects and it weather the rocks. As the roots grow the root becomes thinker and get longer very slow. By burrowing a Prairie Dog can weather a rock.
