What do you think of when you here the word friction ?

What factors determine the strength of the friction force when two surfaces slide against each other ?

  1. if you were in the space shuttle and re-entering the atmosphere, the bottom of the shuttle would be getting very hot.

  2. I think of friction as a force that holds back a sliding object.
The factors that determine the strength is resistance.

I think of friction as a type of force that holds back an object while it's moving.
The factor that determines the strength is resistance.

  8. something that slows you down

  9. I think of something moving.
The speed and surfaces determine the strength of friction force.

  10. Friction is resistance that one surface or object encounters when moving one another.

Depends on the surface and the object on how strong the friction is.

  11. I think Friction as a type of Force

  12. 1. what I think friction is, is movement.

Friction is a force that holds back the movement of a sliding object so if there is 2 sliding objects it is still conidered friction.

  14. I think of it as a force the rubs together.
Resistance is the factor that determines the strength.

  16. What do you think of when you here the word friction ? what i think of when i hear the word friction is someone rubbing a balloon ton their shirt then putting it over their head and there hair sticks up. :PPPP

What factors determine the strength of the friction force when two surfaces slide against each other ? i dont know...

  17. I think about rubbing my feet on a carpet and zapping people XD. Factors that determine when two forces slide against each other is resistance.

  18. The wordIi think of is sparks!
The surfaces of the two things. The materials the two things are made of.

  19. static friction is heavy objects and strong bonds and sliding friction is slowing down

  20. When I think of friction, I think things heating up when rubbing against each other, or the screeching sound when planes land, or when cars stop quickly. The speed and surface determine the force of the friction.

  21. I Think of static electricity.what factors determine the strength of the friction force when two surfaces slide against each other the surfaces of two things and the materials the two things are made out of.

  22. Its determined when 2 forces slide against each other. so there are many words like spark

  25. The Factors of determining the strength of the friction is force and resisitance. When I think of friction i think a fraction or more like something going together.

  27. The ice works better then wood carpet and vinni It makes it slide

  28. Ice works better then the rest because the ice is slippery, and the tires and ice have no friction, so the car slides along the ice and makes it to the blue flag.

  29. when I hear friction I think of some one or something grinding together

  31. 1. I think of sandpaper grinding together or something like that.
    2. The smoothness, the speed.

  32. When I think of friction I think of two things working against each other. Some factors that go into friction would be things like air resistance, roughness of the two materials, and the size and weight of the two materials.

  33. when I think of friction I think of something rubbing together and creating heat. The factors are force and resistance

  34. When I hear friction I think of two things rubbing or grinding together.
The factors are the types of surfaces involved and how hard the surfaces push together.

What do you think of when you here the word friction ?
What factors determine the strength of the friction force when two surfaces slide against each other ?

I think of rubbing your hands together and they get warm...

The strength of the force of friction depends on two factors: the types of surfaces involved and how hard the surfaces push together..

  40. The object and the floor determine friction. I think of a hockey puck on ice compared to a driveway.
