This is the Saco river. How might the color of this river and others change after a big storm? Also what is a freshet and how have they effect the towns along the Saco river?
After a storm the colors of the Saco river will change because the wind might blow all the leaves off the tree and they might make the river very dirty
The water could become brown and muddy if soil was blown into the river or disturbed on the river-bed. It could take a while for the soil to settle at the bottom of the river.
The color of the rivers and others could change to be a darker blue because the water got deeper or it could turn a green or brown murky color because of dirt and mud flowing into the river because of the rain.
I think that the water would become dirty and have more of a brown tint to it because of all the sediment that goes moved around and flung into the river due to the storm.
Dirt washed into rivers makes them brown. I swan in Keezar pond after a week of big rainstorms. If you stood in ankle-deep water you would not see your feet.
The river would change color in multiple ways. In a rainstorm the water would turn brown after a storm. Because from the rain the water level will increase. So more sediment would be pushed up and mixed into the water. Creating a mud like form of water.
I think that the color of the would change because first, the dirt and sand at the bottom would be stirred around and make it brown, also it would have a lot of sediments from the land near it in it, second it would be more blue because it would be darker because if you thin about it, the deeper the water the darker it is like in the ocean.
I live near the Saco and after Irene the water turned completely brown. I asked my mom and she said the extra water had brought up old sediment lain down many a years ago by the river.
The color of the Saco river might change after a big storm because if there is a lot of sand blown into the river the river will most definitley, if there is enough sand, will turn brown. Also if it is a tornado, or rain/hail storm, the color of the saco river will become bluer because of the color of the rain. If it blows sand and leafs it will turn brown or darken colors.
The color of a river might change after a storm because mud and logs might be washed into the river, plus all the mud at the bottom of the river would be washed up. So basically it would become brown.
The Saco river and other rivers will turn brown and become high because of the large amounts of water being poured into the river. I know this because the saco is right across the road from my house and this is what happened to it after hurricane irean
If there is a big storm, then dirt and/or sand (if there's enough) will change the color of the water. The clouds covering the sky will also make the river appear darker. A freshet is a flood of a river from heavy rain and/or melted snow.
The blue colors will kind of fade after the storm because the reason why the water turns blue is because the sky's reflection is in the water and the freshet might effect the town is because it could flood homes and the water level could be too much for the houses to hold off.
A freshet is a great rise or overflowing of a stream caused by heavy rains or melted snows. They effect the towns along the Saco because a lot of the roads are along the river and a freshet could flood the roads. If the roads flood, then people won't be able to get to work and kids also couldn't get to school.
A freshet is when a freshwater stream flowing into the ocean overflows from a flood or a storm and that would effect the towns along the saco river (Buxton, Hollis) because if it were to over flow those town would be flooded and the roads would be blocked, grocery stores would not sell anything and other stuff like that!!! :)
A freshet is a flood due to a heavy storm or spring thaw. It effects us by the homes along the Saco River, flood and the roads flood. Also it changes the color of the water.
A freshet is a flood resulting from heavy rain or a spring thaw or it could be a stream or river of fresh water which empties into the ocean, usually flowing through an estuary. An estuary is a partly enclosed coastal body of water with one or more rivers or streams flowing into it
A freshet is the flood of a river from heavy rain or melted snow. This can effect the towns along the Saco river, by flooding and the roads would be blocked and all stores would be closed.
Freshets would effect the towns around the Saco river because the flooding would clog up roads and buildings so no one would be able to get anywhere and would have to stay wherever they are until the floodwater recedes.
the wind could blow the sand/dirt into the water and make it muddy water.
ReplyDeleteIt would be brown because the dirt would be mixed around on the bottom.

ReplyDeleteIt would come black because there isn't a blue sky to reflect off of.
ReplyDeleteThe color would be darker because the water would be deeper.
ReplyDeleteHow the Saco River water would change color is because everything would be mixed in with it.. Like Dirt.
ReplyDeleteif the sand or dirt falls into the water the river will become muddy
ReplyDeleteEmilyM ~
ReplyDeleteI think the color would turn a mud brown because the rain would make the mud from the bottom stir up
Maybe the river will flood and the water would go faster or maybe slower

ReplyDeleteDebris may come into it and change the color. Floods may make it wider.
ReplyDeleteDebris might change the color and it might change to a darker blue because the water is deeper.
