Avalanches occur when snow on a mountain slope breaks loose and slides down hill.
1. Describe what is happening in the photo. How is the land changed as the snow and ice move over it?
2. What is the key force pulling an avalanche down hill
3. How do you think the steepness of a slope effects an avalanche

in the photo the snow and ice broke loose so now its an avalanche. the land has changed because maybe some trees and rocks are covers and broken.
the wind and ice and snow bringing the force down.
because it slanted so the snow falls down

    ReplyDelete
  5. it's changed because the avalanche destroys everything in its path.Gravity is the key force to pulling the avalnche down the hill/slope/mountain. It can go faster or slower depending on the steepness

  6. Brian B. In this photo the land is being pushed down and it is a huge mountain of powdered snow. The key force puling the avalanche down hill is gravity. The steepness of the slope effects an avalanche because if the hill is steep the snow has a higher chance of breaking and falling down the hill creating a avalanche.

  7. In the photo an avelanche is happening.
    Gravity is the key force.
the mountain is so steep that it can't hold all that snow on the side

  9. 1. The mountain is changing as the slop slides down the mountain. The mountain is changing shape...?
    2. the key force pulling an avalanche down the hill is gravity,
    3. because if the mountain is steep it will go faster...

  10. 1 The land has changed after the avalanche be any every thing either gets covered or plowed over
2 The key force in avalanches is gravity, it pulls the snow & stuff down
3 The steeper the slope the faster the snow & stuff will go down.

  11. When the snow and ice move over the land it is being flattened and destroyed. The key force pulling the avalanche is gravity.Well if the slope was to steep it would be a lot easier to fall or start an avalanche because it would be easy to fall and roll down the hill faster.

  12. 1. An avalanche is happening in the picture. The land is changed from the snow and the ice because it trees are flattened to the ground and it makes more clumps of snow instead of flat snow.

2.The key force pulling an avalanche downhill is gravity.

3.The steepness of a slope effects an avalanche by making it go faster down the hill and making it go farther down the hill.

the land would change because the snow would cover the trees and rocks making the land barren and in-able to host life. The key force pulling down the snow and ice would be gravity and/or wind. The steeper the cliff the farther and faster the avalanche could traveler covering even more land in snow.

  15. What's happening is the land is covering the trees and rocks. The key force pulling an avalanche down hill is gravity. The steepness makes the avalanche go down the hill faster.

    ReplyDelete
  16. 1. The land is changed by the avalanche because rock, dirt, and plants are being pulled down allong with the avalanche.

    2. The key force pulling the avalanche downhill is gravity.

    3. I think the steepness of the slope effects the avalanche by making it go faster.

  17. In the photo it looks like something fell and is sliding down that hill. When the thing fell it made a very big movement and shook up every thing. The key force that is pulling the avalanche down the hill is gravity. The steepness of a slope effects and avalanche because it could go faster and run everything over.

  18. 1.In the photo snow is falling from a mountain. The land is changing from the ice breaking down the hill turning it step to a mountain.

    2. The key force is vibrations

    3. The snow falls faster and it is easier to fall

    ReplyDelete
  19. 1.A piece of rock fell of the mountain, and slid downhill kicking up snow and ice. 2.The main force pushing the rock down is gravity. 3.I think the steeper the slope, the faster it goes.

  20. 1. The snow and ice are falling down the mountain. And taring apart the land.
    2. The key force is gravity pulling it down.
    3. The gravity makes it slip and it falls down the mountain.

  22. An avalanche is happening in this photo. The land has changed by making all the rocks and other debree fall so now the ground is bumpy and covered in debree. The key force that caused this avalanche is a landslide. The hill is so steep that ever thing slides because there is nothing to hold the snow and ice on the hill.

  25. The snow and ice is slidding down the mountain at a rate of speed. It gets flat.Wind?

    ReplyDelete
  26. In this photo an avalanche is happening. the reason the avalanche is hapenng is because of gravity

    ReplyDelete
  27. This is happening because, of the slope how it's very deformed and the slope is so steep that the snow causes a avanlanche. The key force Gravity. The avalanche becomes more dangerous and destructive because the snow comes down faster.

    ReplyDelete
  28. 1 The land has changed after the avalanche be any every thing either gets covered or plowed over
2 The key force in avalanches is gravity, it pulls the snow & stuff down
3 The steeper the slope the faster the snow & stuff will go down.

  30. :1.The snow and ice is slidding down the mountain at a rate of speed.:2.It gets flat.:3Wind?

    ReplyDelete
  31. As the snow moves down the slop the land below gets bigger but tighter at the same time. The key force is gravity. the steepness can make more snow come down because the gravity pull is greater

    ReplyDelete
  32. the snow is rapidly decending from the mountain

    ReplyDelete
  33. 1. In this photo snow is falling down the mountain causing an avalanche.
    2.Gravity is the key force.
    3. It effects how fast the snow falls.

  37. 1.An avalanche is happening.
    2.Gravity is pulling the avalanche.
3.Depending on how steep the slope is the avalanche might not be that bad

    ReplyDelete
  38. 1. Describe what is happening in the photo.(an avalanche) How is the land changed as the snow and ice move over it?(It gets larger?????)
    2. What is the key force pulling an avalanche down hill?(the key force that is pulling the avalanche down the hill is none other then the gravity)
    3. How do you think the steepness of a slope effects an avalanche? (the steepness of the slope would make the rocks, ice, and dirt would be faster and deadlier because of the steepness.)

    ReplyDelete
  39. the steeper the mountain the faster the snow moves

    ReplyDelete
  40. The snow is faling down the hill because there was to much weight. Nothing the snow just keeps going down hill and make a big pile at the bottom.

    Gravity

it will go down hill faster.

    ReplyDelete
  41. In this photo there is a piece of land being pushed down the slope and it is snow. the key force is gravity. the steepness of the slope makes the avalanche even more dangerous then before.

    ReplyDelete
  42. The surface of the land is falling down the mountain and taking the trees with it. Gravity is the key force. The gravity is stronger so there is a more likely chance on and avalanche

    ReplyDelete
  43. The trees and land will deform and reform and the key is gravity, then the avalanche becomes more destructive because it comes down the mountain faster.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The mountain is being cleared of trees rocks and soil.

    ReplyDelete
  45. with all the debris in the avalanche it is going to destroy everything in its path

    ReplyDelete
  46. The avalanche is taking rocks and trees in it's wake changing the land on the mountain. Gravity is the key force causing the avalanche. The steeper the slope, the harder gravity will be able to pull and the faster the avalanche will move.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I think that the snow is falling down the mountain in the picture also the land changes by rocks falling down with the snow and it taring down the trees below. Gravity is the force that is pulling the snow down. Also the steepness of the slope would make the snow possible fall faster.

    ReplyDelete
  48. 1: In the photo a avalanche is happening on a snowy mountain.

2: The key force pulling the avalanche is gravity.

3: The steepness of the slope effects the avalanche because it will make it fall faster.

    ReplyDelete
  49. This picture shows an avalanche. Avalanches happen when a mountain gets so steep it can not support the snow on it. Then the gravity pulls the snow down to the ground. Since the force is so strong, the snow takes trees and other things with it.

    ReplyDelete
  50. In the photo there is an avalanche. The land is being changed because the avalanche could be picking up more stuff as it goes along or it could be dropping things off along the way when it looses its energy. The key force that is pulling it downhill is gravity. The steepness of the slope effects the avalanche because the steeper the slope is the faster the avalanche will go.

    ReplyDelete
  51. 1. In the photo an avalanche is occurring. This means snow and ice is tumbling down hill... Probably very fast. The land scape is probably being ripped apart. The trees and such.

    2. The key force pulling the snow down the hill is Gravity.

    3. The steepness of the slope affects the speed of the avalanche. If the mountain is a gentle slope, the snow will not move as fast, but if the mountain is a sheer drop, it'll just go tumbling to the bottom.

    ReplyDelete
  52. 1. An avalanche is occurring in this picture. Avalanches cause the land around to be covered in snow, flattening and killing everything in its path. The land is going to be flat, dead, and covered in snow.

    2. The key force is gravity

    3. I think it effects how fast it goes, and the amount of snow falling down the hill

    ReplyDelete
  53. In the photo massive amounts of snow are sliding down a steep slope, the land is going to change because some trees will collapse and the land might slide also. Gravity is the main force that pulls the snow down the snow, the steepness of the slope effects the avalanche because it makes it so that gravity can do it's job better

    ReplyDelete
  54. the avalanche was caused by a big snow. this caused two different layers of snow that are not completely attached so a disturbance happens and the top layer slides of and slides down the slope. As it goes it picks up snow and gets bigger and stronger.

    1. The snow and ice are moving down the mountain. It will take down trees overturn rocks and make the slope smoother.
    2. The key force is gravity.
    3. If the slope is steeper then the snow will fall faster.

    ReplyDelete
  56. the snow will also wipe out anything in its path

    ReplyDelete
  57. An Avalance is happening. While the snow moves down hill it breaks trees and moves dirt and mud and changes the terrian. The force pulling the avalanche down hill is gravity. The steepness of the slope determines how fast gravity pulls the snow to the center of the earth.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Gravity will make it go faster.

    ReplyDelete
  59. 1. An avalanche is being created by gravity pulling it downhill.
    2. Gravity is the key force that pulls the avalanche downhill.
    3. The steepness effects the avalanche because when the hill or slope that the avalanche is falling down is steeper, more snow will fall, and it will fall down faster and with more force, therefore, creating more damage as it comes down.

    ReplyDelete
  60. As the avalanche moves downhill it plows over trees and bushes cleaning out a path on the hill or mountain. The key force pulling an avalanche downhill is gravity. The steeper the slope the faster it moves. The flatter the slope the slower it moves.

    ReplyDelete
  61. 1. In the picture a massive avalanche is in progress. The land is changed by the snow and possibly some rock piling on the bottom of the slope and killing trees or creating new rivers from the melt.
    2. The key force pulling this avalanche is gravity.
    3. The slope effects the avalanche by if the slope is gentle, there probably won't be an avalanche, but if there is a steep slope like this, an avalanche is more likely.

    ReplyDelete
  62. P.S. There's an avalanche happening in the pic.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Many things can contribute to the speed. The force of the gravity, the amount of snow, and the amount of things that are in the way of the snow. The steepness of a slope does effect the speed too.

    ReplyDelete
  64. 1. the snow and ice are moving down the mountain causing an avalanche. 2. gravity is the force pulling the avalanche downhill,3. the steepness of the slope affects the land because the steeper it is the faster it moves and the more destruction on the mountain

  66. Gravity is pulling the snow down the mountain.

If the slope was steeper the avalanch would go faster.

  67. I agree with archer.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Snow is falling down the hill and as it goes down it takes trees down and anything in its with it. the key force is gravity obviosly and because of the steepness of the slope there is more gravity or the force of gravity is stronger so it goes down harder

    ReplyDelete
  69. Many things can make the avalanche go faster but gravity is contributing a lot.

  80. The picture above depicts an avalanche rapidly engulfing the side of a snow covered mountain. The avalanche's path can be clearly seen after it settles as the land has been changed drastically. The key force pulling the avalanche is gravity, and the steeper the slope of the mountain the more pull gravity contributes, in result the avalanche moves much faster.
