Reading the Data

These maps shows the age of the ocean floor. How would you interpret the data? Which areas would the newly form rock be found?

  2. In the middle of the ocean where it's red is the newest rock's and the blue on the outside of the map is the oldest kinds of rock. because when they spred appart they left rock in-between where they broke apart. from the vents

  16. The red areas on both of the maps are the newest rock and the blue is the oldest rock, the rest of the colors go in order, the closer they are to red the newer they are and the closer they are to blue they are older.

  17. You can integrate it so that the blue is the oldest and red is the youngest, and the borders of the tectonic plates are around the youngest rock.

  23. I would first interpret the rock's ages with colors. It would go from red, orange, yellow, yellow-green, ice blue and then dark blue.

  25. I would interpret how old a rock is by looking at the colors at the map. The blue colors are oldest and the red are youngest. The newly formed rock would be where the plates meet.
