Out of this World

We have been studying the rock cycle on planet Earth. Do you think rock cycles on other planets in our solar system? Choose a planet in our solar system and tell why you think that planet may or may not have a rock cycle. Please use evidence to support your claim and site your sources.

  2. I think Mars has a rock cycle because it has been found that it had water at one point so water erosion could have accrued at a point and time. There is wind on Mars so wind erosion could happen.

  3. mars might have a rock cycle because it has been found that there had been water at one point in time

  4. Saturn for example does have a rock cycle because the rings around the planet are made of rock and ice and to form the rocks and ice it would have a rock cycle.

  5. I think that there is a rock cycle on many planets in our solar system. I think that on Mars there is a rock cycle because mars is like another earth so there would be a rock cycle on it.

  6. I think that Jupiter has a rock cycle because they have volcanos and they would cool down just like on earth. Jupiter rocks most likely will break down by falling off of something and breaking into sediment and with pressure sediment turns into sedimentary.

  8. I think there is a rock cycle in other planets rather than just Earth. I think Mars has a rock cycle because, it's very rocky on mars and there is also some little volcanoes including Olympus mons.

  9. Earth definitely does. Possibly Venus and Mars have (or have had) a rock cycle of some sort, too. However, Venus and Mars lack liquid water and tectonic plates, which are important in Earth's rock cycle. http://www.answers.com/Q/What_planets_have_a_rock_cycle

  10. I chose Jupiter. Jupiter would not have a rock cycle, because it is made up of mostly gas, but it has rocky moons that can be investigated. There may be a gas cycle that Jupiter undergoes, though.

  11. Air and water erode rocks into sediments. Earth's mantle heats buried rocks to make metamorphic rocks. Continents collide and raise mountains for water and air to erode. The planets closest to the Sun (Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars) are rocky; they will most likely show evidence of a rock cycle.

  12. Venus and Mars might have the rock cycle but their cores are solidified so maybe not.

  13. Some planets can have a rock cycle like earth, but if we were gonna talk for instance neptune. Neptune is gas because it is one of the gas giants like jupiter. Neptune is mostly made of ice. So that means there are no rocks on neptune, so neptune dose not have a rocks on it so there is no rock cycle, but there could be rock cycles on other plants.

  14. When the cores are solidified there is no geological activity.

  15. some planets will have a rock cycle , but Jupiter is made of gas and stuff.

  16. I think there is a rock cycle on Neptune because the color of Neptune just makes me think rocks and the planet Neptune just seems rocky.

  17. When the cores are solidified there is no geological activity.

  18. I do believe that the rock cycle happens outside of earth. Saturn has rocks for rings on it and many other planets have rocks on it. That's why I believe that the rock cycle can easily exist outside of earth. If I had to pick a planet that most likely had the rock cycle, I would have to pick Saturn because it's rings around it are made of ROCK!!!!

  19. Different rock cycles fall under different conditions. So a rock cycle may be a little different on other planets.

  20. Earth is the planet we live on, part of a solar system of eight planets. A planet is a celestial body that does not produce its own light, like stars do. The sun is a star. http://education.nationalgeographic.com/encyclopedia/earth/

  22. mars mighte have a rock cycle

    ReplyDelete
  23. Jupiter would not have a rock cycle because it's made up of gas.

    ReplyDelete
  24. There is a lot of Igneous rocks on mercury considering there are thousands of volcanos!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think there is a rock cycle on other planets because most of the planets have and made out of rock

    ReplyDelete
  26. jupiter has a rock cycle because jupiter has rock and has moment just like earth but does not have volcano like us

    ReplyDelete
  27. Jupiter would not have a rock cycle, because it is made up mostly of gas but it has rocky moons that can be investigated.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I think Mars has a rock cycle because it just makes me think of rocks and because I think all planets are made of rock.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I think the rock cycle might be on other planets. But I think that it might exist on some of the planets in our solar system or at once. But might not exist know.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I think another planet that would have a rock cycle is the planet mars.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think there isn't a rock cycle on jupiter because its mostly gas.

    ReplyDelete
  32. pluto no because it is way way to cold.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I pick plato and i think it has no rock cycle because there is no heat or much gravity.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I think Jupiter has a rock cycle because it is very hot witch the heat and presser would create erosion.

    ReplyDelete
  35. yes. mars does have a rock cycle, volcanoes have been found on mars. which concludes the fact that mars does have a rock cycle.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think it really relies on the type of planet its materials and more.

  37. (My Source "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturn")

I think Saturn may have a rock cycle because it has a top ice lair. On the inside of the ice is stone. I think Saturn may have a severe case of ice wedging. I think this because Saturn has a giant lair of ice above it's rocky core.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think there are rock cycles on the inner planets because they're rocky. without a rock cycle there would be no rocks.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I think mar's would because, there is a lot of rock's, and because it is a hot plant.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I pick saturn. I don't think that saturn has a rock cycle because there is no water and without water there is no rock cycle.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think that Venus wouldn't have a rock cycle cause there would be to much heat and pressure

    ReplyDelete
  42. I choose Saturn and I think that it does have a rock cycle because it would spin around because of the rings.

  43. I would think that neptune would not have a rock cycle. It is completely made of gas, so rocks could not form. Therefore, there would be no rock cycle.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think Mars might have a rock cycle, sure. Nothing melts, or it has bearly any gravity. But, rocks can still fall. I'm not quite sure, to be honest.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I don't think there is any full rock cycles on other planets.

    ReplyDelete
  46. the sun has a rock cycle cause its hot and melts down any meteroids that hit into the sun and creates Erosion

    ReplyDelete
  47. I think there is the rock cycle on other planets because it is rocky on other planets such as (mars).

    ReplyDelete
  48. I think Pluto odes not have a Rock cycle because one, its to far away from the sun so it has no heat and theres Basically no Gravity. But I do think Mars has a Rock Cycle because, it is very rocky and has minerals and stuff like that and it is hot and it is the closest planet to us so I would think they would have one.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I don't believe that mars has a rock cycle sure it has a lot of rocks I mean it is a rock but not a rock cycle,or so i believe. I don't believe it has a rock cycle because it doesn't have weathering or erosion. Thats why I believe that mars has no rock cycle.

    ReplyDelete
  50. i think vienis because theirs a lot of chemicals and they might erode rocks and its hot.

    ReplyDelete
  51. i think jupiter has a rock cycle because it is very hot

    ReplyDelete
  52. i think ploto has a rock cycle becuse it is made of rock and gas

    ReplyDelete
  53. I would think that neptune would not have a rock cycle. It is completely made of gas, so rocks could not form. Therefore, there would be no rock cycle.

  54. i don't think there is any full rock cycles on other planets.

    ReplyDelete
  55. i don't think there is any rock cycles on other planets even mars or the moon

    ReplyDelete
  56. I pick saturn because i dont think it has a rock cycle because of its rings

    ReplyDelete
  57. I don't think there is any full rock cycles on other planets.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I think that on vienes has a rock cycle because: there is lots of chemicals and sulfur and stuff like that, and that could be like weathering, there are lots of volcanoes, so heating, but I dont think it could cool down because it is so hot there. And stuff would build up, (pressure) and compact and make some sort of metamorphic rock thing.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I think some planets do have the rock cycle and others don't because some planets are made out of gas and some are made out of rocks.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I think mars has a rock cycle becuase there is rocks.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I think there are other planets who ave the rock cycle. I think mercury has the rock cycle because since it is closer to the sun so there is a lot of heat.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I think that any planet can have a rock cycle if its composition contains rock. If there is no rock then how would there be a rock cycle. To be honest, I don't quite understand planets too much, so my response may seem vague, and I am truly sorry for that. On the subject of rock cycles, Mars might have a rock cycle because there is a lot of rock there, while Neptune might not because the only rock on Neptune is its core.
